Yes. These pussies would have zero power

And your lazy whore daughters would have to get real jobs instead of being a prostitute on social media with cash app

Well, I’m 70 now and was right next to Al Gore when he created the Internet. Oh, heady days!
Seriously, I started with all this crap in the mid-80s with way too expensive PCs, floppy discs, then 28k baud dialup, AOL, bulletins boards and then Encarta on CDs ...
Banking on-line was a tremendous leap, IMDB was buggy but fun and of course following college football was a blast. Car phones, slide phones and flip phones connected us. The future was going to be great.
Then Zuckerboy created Facebook and then Twitter quickly followed. Amazon went from a bookstore to the world’s boon and bane.
It took me all of two weeks to quit Facebook ... too many people baring their souls and uninteresting lives and grandkids photos. To me, social media (even this site to which I am addicted) is an unchecked crime upon society. We’ll never be the same and will never go back.
We can only hope that saner people will evolve this plague we’ve brought on ourselves.
I spend way too much time on my iPhone and PC and would go back in a heartbeat if I could pick and choose it’s features. Alas, I cannot.
So I’ll adapt and overcome. And I wish all of you the wisdom to do the same.

You don’t t think presidential elections are affected by social media?
I'll ask again. Feel free to tell me just one way my life has changed. Just one.

Yeah, yeah, I know. "If people were just better" is a nice thought, but they're not. It's kind of like saying socialism would work great if people would just forego their selfishness.
Old man comments will rain down, but life sure seemed a lot less angry back then.
People were just as shitty but their successes and failures weren't magnified by a telescope or 24/7 surveillance.
Of course I would go back no one should have to watch what they say 24/7. I think we all miss the world where it was okay to compliment a girl saying she should smile more often because it makes her prettier without nazi lesbians trying to cancel you

Nah. If the internet never existed, we would never have discovered how blatantly the Media lies to us about everything.
The networks used to have a monopoly on dissemination of information. They're trying to take social media there, now.

OK. I'll write really slowly so you can wrap your head around it.
Social media is driving the voting by and election of idiots, and Biden could very well be the next POTUS because of it.
Will that affect you?

I am a GenX person (female). I remember Life without the Internet, and thankfully I did most of my dumb shite before it. That said. I would not give up the Internet.
I would not give up internet shopping or communication. These two facets make it indespensible. I just had the best talk with four of my best friends from college and we all live apart from each other. I’d never see their kids grow up or
Know the daily details of their lives without the Internet.
Unfortunately I think the generations that came after me substitute Internet relationships for real ones. My friendship with those 4 girls is real bc we know each other in real life. And communicated in real life and have been thru real shite together good and fricking awful. There’s no substitute for that kind of friendship or interaction.
There are bad parts about the Internet but the bad parts about it are just the bad parts about socializing.
People were always assholes. The Internet just makes this trait magnified.
Politics have always been vicious. The internet just lets EVERYONE participate. This is good and bad.
Internet anonymity is a blessing and a curse. People say things when they are anonymous they would never say otherwise.

I'd miss Spotify but, yeah, probably.

I’d miss the free porno too much

No doubt.
I love simple things and simple times. Everything was real back then.

Started using PCs in 1981, but would give up PCs, smartphones and the internet in a heartbeat,
I miss,
Having my own library of references.
Going to the library.
Phone books.
Calling a business to place an order, and talking to a knowledgeable sales person
Calling Airline and hotel reservation numbers, and having a human being set up my trip.
Writing to, and receiving letters.from friends.
Getting catalogs in the mail.
Going to the bank, keeping a checkbook.
