We used to break up trusts and monopolies. Now, our government runs cover for them.

The funny thing is that young Bolsheviks think that communism would make things more equal, rather than to simply hand control directly to the wealthy elite.

This is simply not true. In fact, it's quite likely that the US housing stock is quite underbuilt. In any event there's no chance that "most places" are over built.

Well, that’s strange. I’m middle class, pay off my credit cards each month, and my net worth boomed during the Trump admin. Boomed.

Net worth is still increasing on average, but at a much slower rate with Brandon.

Middle class Americans filling up Life Storage units across America does not indicate there is a lack of ability to consume

The issue is that so many don’t save

The Dems want the folks who live off the government to be able to buy enough crap that they have to pay $200 a month for a storage unit. That would be equity

I don’t even disagree with him that consumerism is a huge problem but he sounds like an absolute idiot when he mentions mink coats (only hoodlums are buying a these) and Xbox live (very cheap)

The answer to this is less regulation and lower taxes, but the morons will vote for the people who do the opposite.

I’ve grown tired trying to explain this to people that are obviously too stupid to understand.

Right. And people will often say things like "the top 10 percent pay X% of all taxes!"

While true that's not a particularly important observation. Someone barely in the top 10% is in fact paying their fair share and they're shielding the .0001% from paying their share.

I personally don’t care if some people make enough money to launch rockets to space for entertainment. My concern is that, while consumer goods are cheap due to offshoring of manufacturing, the industries we can’t offshore like construction, education, and health care continue to grow out of the reach of millions and millions of us. Food hasn’t grown unaffordable due to farm subsidies. The feeling I get is that policy makers expected us to sit in front of 70” TVs, get fat, and forget the whole idea of striving for something better for ourselves and our children.

Wealth inequality and a corruptible federal government are two very different items.
It's always interesting that people blame "the rich" for corruption, but don't blame the politicians for it. It takes to to complete that transaction.

If you want to cure corruption in politics-- make politicians less powerful. If they had no power, no one would be "buying" them.
