I’ll tell you this, no one is touching my kid when I’m around. If I’m in the area, my son will know me as the authority figure.

I’ll never understand the parents that can sit back and watch other people discipline their children.

Did this kid deserve it? Probably. But I’ll be damned if I’ll ever sit and watch my son get paddled and cry while I film it.

At the same time, if there's zero discipline at home to reinforce what's taught at school, beating a kid will do nothing to influence future behavior.

The problem is that parents don't discipline their children. Nobody wants to discipline another person's child. But children need to know that when they are away from their parents it is not OK to act like an idiot.

The fear of a nun with a wooden paddle kept our heathen asses in line. Many of those little shits need a good attitude adjustment as my dad used to say.

Doesn’t the OT think this is perfectly normal behavior?

I do mostly, yes. I'm not a big fan of others whipping my children, but then I don't send them to public school with the retards that work and play there either.

This is one of hte biggest problems in our country right here. Children do not respect teachers because they don't paddle. If a kid gets a paddling, the parent(s) immediately side with the kid and threaten to sue.

Most parents don't discipline their kids anyomre. They don't raise them. The parents are too busy on their playing on their phones. They now expect the school system to, not only teach them, but to also raise them, and teach them right from wrong. They expect all of this without disciplining the child. When a teacheer tries to enforce the rules, the parents come to the aid of the child.

It didn't used to be like this. When I was growing up, certain teachers had a reputation for paddling. Guess who didn't act up in those calsses? Us kids. If we got into trouble at school, guess what was waiting on us at home? More discipline. Guess what we didn't have? School shootings, riots, blue haired SJWs getting offended at any and everything- including being born.

This mom should be also paddled for recording this. If she was against the paddling, then she ahould have spoken up. I bet she probably thought that she could get a nice settlement out of it.

The biggest problem in this country is teachers not paddling kids?

We don't need teachers paddling kids to restore order in schools. We need parents who actually parent

The article said that corporal punishment isn't allowed in that school district. I also stated that the girl did $50 worth of damage to a school computer. It didn't say how the damage was done. (Child out of line or just an accident)

If the child was acting out of line, the punishment was just.

It's too late. Chances are you had the chance to do so and passed it up, otherwise they wouldn't be giving the teachers a hard time.

I will also add that now the message that they need to learn is your parents were soft on you, but the rest of the world will not be. They may be salvageable if you get them at a young age. We are past the point of no return though because they are just way too many terrible parents now that nothing we do will stop the decay.

It is why we have a guy in the White House who has never done anything but lie, cheat and steal and be rewarded for it. One good spanking as a child and he could have possibly been a decent person.

Good catch. I should have written more clearly. The problem is that parents DON'T parent. They side with the kid, sue the school, then let the kids grow up with no discipline and no sense of right or wrong outside of their own feelings.

But, because teachers don't paddle, kids grow up not respecting authority because there are no consequences. They grow up to resist arrest, run from police, then expect to get out of it, because they always have had someone bail them out.

Respect for authority and a general understanding of, and adherence to, social norms is not something that can be instilled through punishment. There are certain subcultures in America with folks constantly in and out of jail. They don't develop a respect for authority; they develop a disdain for authority.

Discipline in school will only work if it's reinforced in the home. Absent that, you're wasting your time.
