I don't know who you are.
I won't make any assumptions about your intelligence yet.
Tell us how this shitty thread has anything to do with DeSantis.

Initially, it was concerning to see the headlines about this Bill. However, on reading the particulars, it is quite clearly focused ONLY on controlling abuses of the public media. Note that we do have Free Speech rights, and this Bill protects them by having NO abridgment of that activity as you are NOT required to register unless you are a PAID blogger. So everyone can still call the governor, and other elected officials, whatever pejorative names they wish, or report any information on them, fact or fiction, as long as they are not being paid to so do.
You have Free Speech rights, but you have NO rights to use public financed and supported resources as a weapon against the social order, nor your political opponents. And the social order has the right to collective, perceptive, self defense.
This Bill will very likely pass. This is the form of legislation that will be arising in all the States as we get deeper into the Revealing of the 5GUW to the Populace.

Imagine being okay with giving the state any more power than they already have. We already have defamation laws and a politician can take someone to court over something untrue.

Does this bill state anything about the bold mentioned part? From what I read, applies to private funds as well
If Democrats raised this issue, I am sure everyone on here would agree it is a great idea...

Didn't they start some Florida Today podcast just for Ron?
That cheap cigar smoking imbecile neverTrumper that is a PV board member a part of firing O'Keefe. Must not be getting attention.
Christina Pushaw seems to want to control her, God created Ron on the 8th day-- color revolution plan.
What will they do if someone blogs negative about Ron and they make no money? Form their own little media with a former MSM reporter that got a promo in the TwitterLeaks-that no one GAF about?

I'm sure Democrats will never abuse such power. WCGW?
eta: you talked about how people don't have a right to use public funds. There's no language in the bill that restricts enforcement to public funds. It could apply to ANY revenue you have as a result of your blog. It could be advertisements, merchandise, or subscriptions. You guys are frickin stupid. It's embarrassing.

In the bill, Brodeur wrote that those who write “an article, a story, or a series of stories,” about “the Governor, the Lieutenant Governor, a Cabinet officer, or any member of the Legislature,” and receives or will receive payment for doing so, must register with state offices within five days after the publication of an article that mentions an elected state official.
Failure to file these disclosures or register with state officials, if the bill passes, would lead to daily fines for the bloggers, with a maximum amount per report, not per writer, of $2,500. The per-day fine is $25 per report for each day it’s late.

This bill exposes the R legislatures as being controlled by the MavPAC Bush's and DC establishment.
No wonder Ron is never attacked by his own Governor administration.

Explicitly, the blogger rule would not apply to newspapers or similar publications, under Brodeur’s proposed legislation.

This bill is not about right or wrong or moral imperatives. We know that because it does not meet the standards of the EQUAL PROTECTION Clause of the US Constitution. These Politicians are TARGETING one Group, Bloggers, while giving a Get Out of Jail Free Card to the CORPORATE Media.
Only a true Leftist would be so blinded by their hate for Civil Liberties not to see how obvious it is that this is about targeting THEIR political enemies, not upholding Libel Laws. There is already a process in CIVIL Court for that. These Politicians want our Police that we pay with our tax dollars to be their HENCHMEN in what often appears to be an ongoing Criminal Enterprise masquerading as a Government.
Time will tell.

Seems like a pretty stupid bill that would be struck down on 1st amendment grounds as soon as its challenged in court
The 1st Amendment is built around being factual not made-up BS to provide coverup or to slander a political opponent. 50% or more of blogging and social media is not factual. Paid propogandists should be identified as such.

how stupid do they think we are to fall for another Rubio, Romney, Ryan?

It’s a sh*tty bill whether it mentions DeSantis by name or not.
And it will accomplish little. The massive mockingbird media conglomerates that own the major dailies in Florida — like all MSM news platforms — are already wholly owned subsidiaries of our nation’s wholly corrupted national security apparatus.
Their primary purpose is to promote the status quo above all else. In addition to raising serious 1st Amendment issues, a bill of this nature will ultimately be used to target independent voices.
