Yes, unless we drop the mother of all bombs or there has been no fighting by Iran for at least a month, nobody cares. It's all just talk or BS agreements otherwise.

Technically you could argue the problem with Iran was created in the 80s, and exacerbated by Obama, but sure. It's going to come to a head one way or another with Iran eventually.

I was just listening to Prof Pape. He has some TDS, but very few people have studied the Iran situation like him. He said near the end here that when he has given presentations to generals about the insane scale of what dealing with Iran is like, they basically go silent. The last ten minutes or so is really good.

Someone in the cabinet should explain to him that no matter what Iran agrees to they won’t do it. The only thing they understand is force. I believe they are dragging this out because I think the regime knows its rule is over. They will die either by the bombing or the people of Iran. Either way they are going to die

Trump got over confident after the Maduro grab. I don’t think he realized how quick we would run short on munitions, and I think he thought the shock and awe and eliminating leadership would lead to quick victory but he underestimated the regimes and IRGC resolve. They’re radicals, and won’t surrender. It will take complete eradication and that takes boots on the ground. Trump is now between a rock and a hard place

I'm pretty dispassionate on all things Trump. I had the sense in the first term that he frequently would put on a really good effort toward some end, and then get bored with it and leave it in sort of a half-finished perpetual state until he could claim a W (real or not) and shut it down.

That seems to have continued. I'm sure someone will tell me Iran is actually just a great distraction because Trump is quietly doing all these amazing domestic things at present...but I do not see them. I'm very glad Trump won, I'm not particularly bothered by his performance overall, but the administration definitely seems like it's bogged down and the environment for accomplishing stuff is likely about to get considerably less favorable.

None of this puts all that on Trump - obviously the GOP is useless, administrative and judicial states are obstructionist, etc. But they didn't put us into Iran, which seems to be sucking up a lot of his oxygen.

Or hear me out... maybe we would like him to stop embarrassing himself and making himself and easy target for ridicule.
