There were a shite TON more school shootings before state sponsored prayer was removed from schools.

You would have a point, except that:

1) There have been 100 incidents this decade alone
2) You padded your stats with shootings that occurred in literal, not figurative, war zones
3) You skipped over inconvenient points like this: "There are very seldom reports of mass or multiple school shootings during the first three decades of the 20th Century, with the three most violent attacks on schools involving either arson or explosions." from the same Wiki page you used to cut and paste your incidents.

So maybe you should take your own advice and not be absurd.

You write and argue like a slow elderly person. It's a good thing you don't decide what we "need."

Ok, what is the optimum number of guns to have in your house for self-defense? How many do you need in various rooms and places for self-defense?

For me personally the number I need is none of your business.

That seems like a fair number wouldn't you agree?

Are you trying to suggest that this nutbag was a responsible gun owner? Have you read his manifesto? It's online for anyone to see, the guy was off his rocker.

And even though 3 weeks before this all happened he could have been stopped, nothing was done.

Sounds to me like, yet again, gun control laws failed, as they always do.

Well, the more common argument from socons is that the lack of school prayer is the reason the school shooters have no morals. Still a dumb argument though.

This is a father lashing out in unspeakable grief. I refuse to condemn him or his comments because in his situation I cant imagine what I would do or say, no matter how illogical.

Cut the guy some slack, his college age son was just shot to death.

Guns are made for many reasons. Protection, hunting, target shooting. Don't be simple.

63. I only have 4. Will the government provide the rest?

Thankfully the founding fathers granted me this right.

Or do you like the comfort of having about ten loaded guns around your house just in case?
Mine are in a gun safe, in my work shop, where they are totally inaccessible during an emergency. However, I do keep several baseball bats handy, as well as a big fricking butcher knife for people who walk into my house uninvited.

I don't support this crap either. Do I need to register my toaster? It's dangerous. One can shove their fingers inside and receive thermal and electrical injuries. Maybe we should have a toaster license.

I will cut Richard Martinez a lot of slack. His son was just murdered and he does have a point about the NRA and the Republican Party.

Why did Rodgers have three semi-automatic handguns? Can you really use three at one for self-defense? I mean the NRA and conservative talking point is self-defense.

I agree that the NRA had nothing to do directly with the murders but do you really need three semi-automatic handguns for self defense?

I think the most you can use at one time safely is one. I don't know of any responsible hunter safety or gun safety class or instructor who teaches you how to use two handguns at the same time.

I never cease to be amazed by how shallow a thinker you are. It's astounding to me every time I read some drivel from you like the above.

The Marxist doesn't want anti-Marxists having guns for obvious reasons. There is no honest discussion to have with him or his ilk. He is an agenda driven buffoon who would just as well lie and deceive to further his worldview.

He stated "who needs three automatic handguns" The problem I have with this logic is its application for all causes liberal, who need all that money, who needs all that health care, who needs all that space for a home, who needs a fast car when the speed limit is such. Well nobody and anyone who wishes to have them is the correct answer. Browbeating over excess needs is lib think tank 101 play book.
A grief stricken father is being pimpled out, time should pass before a man in his state is pushed into making statements while still raw from loss so devastating. NRA has never paraded a victim out for gain that I can remember.

Wasn't his dad the assistant director in the movie "Hunger Games"? So a guy working on a movie promoting killing for sport is mad at the NRA because his son watched and played violent movies and video games. Way to blame other people for your son being a violent weirdo.

An article I read last night said that he killed six people. Three were males in his apartment complex that he killed with a knife in his apartment complex before he went shooting. So he killed as many with a knife as he did with a gun. When will people hold knife manufacturers accountable?

I mean it isn't a political point when you've had a child killed by a gun. Right or wrong, he wants to blame someone, he wants to take control of the situation, and feel like he can fix it in someway. The obvious answer is to blame gun laws because the shooter is dead, and he can't find justice there.

The shooter's dad was the director, I believe. The man quoted in the OP was one of the victim's fathers and his child is likely to have been one killed with a knife. I don't know how many males were among the six killed but three males were killed with a knife. So chances are this guy's NRA comments are even further off the mark.

Yep. The truth hurts. As a society, we refuse to hear it or acknowledge it and instead put the blame somewhere else.

ETA: I thought Chris was the shooter.

every time fuel efficiency requirements are upped on cars and trucks, the auto accident death rate increases. Do you support lowering or removing efficiency standards for automobiles? For the children? If it saves just one life...
