I'm sure nothing will come of this. No slippery slope whatsoever.

DETROIT — James Crumbley, father of a school shooter in Michigan, was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter, a second conviction against the teenager's parents who were accused of failing to secure a gun at home and doing nothing to address acute signs of his mental turmoil.

Crumbley and his wife, Jennifer Crumbley, whose teenage son murdered four students and injured seven other people at Oxford High School in November 2021, are the first parents in the nation to be held criminally accountable for a child's school shooting. In February, Jennifer Crumbley was convicted on involuntary manslaughter charges.

Same can be said for "not securing that bottle of whiskey" and junior kills someone while driving drunk

I am all for parents being held accountable, but it Hass to be across the board which we know will not happen. If 14 year old Quintavius shoots up a party are we arresting The Mom also? Or I guess I should say the grandmother

Ethan Crumbley, who was 15 at the time of the shooting, pleaded guilty and is serving life in prison without parole.

Wait, was he mentally ill or not?

If they charged Ethan as an adult, for making adult decisions, how is it the parents fault at that point? Were they completely reckless, ignore signs, forget to lock up that gun on that day, YES. But putting them responsible for this and 15 years behind bar is a very dangerous precendent...

Anyone that kills someone in cold blood is mentally ill

Nope. White man's fault for most murders.

I think their role in running interference for junior after the fact played some role in whatever happened here.

I, too, am not overly thrilled about the idea of holding parents criminally liable for their kid’s actions.

Yep. By that precedent, Laken Riley's parents should be able to press criminal charges against NY officials. If not NY, I suspect Whitmer & Co are similarly culpable.

Alas, the state can pursue criminality against citizens, but the reverse is not allowed.

They certainly don’t have the resources to try tracking down the father half.

With the number of moms they won’t be able to track down, lots of grandmothers going to be doing hard time.

Not why they were convicted.

It’s impossible to disconnect their actions after the shooting from these charges.

FedGov should be charged with voluntary manslaughter for promoting acute mental turmoil

What if he had stolen the gun from his neighbor’s unsecured vehicle? Would the neighbor be prosecuted?
