This. When your kid gets in trouble due to his own wrong decisions there are two options for parents:

a. Defend him. He's a good boy. He'll never do it again.
b. Let him get his punishment and learn a lesson.

Those who choose 'a' end up with kids who get into much worse trouble till you can't fix it.
Those who choose 'b' end up with a kid who rethinks his actions and chooses more wisely.

The state shouldn't charge anyone for something someone else did unless they conspired with the act itself.

However, the parents in this case should be charged with what they actually did which was negligent at a lot of levels.

Negligent parenting contributing to a homicide?

Time to arrest the parents of black suspects guilty of murder

Considering one of the parents are either in prison or disappeared without a trace, they better hope orphanages don’t have diversity quotas.

How many of them went to the store and bought their child their handgun of choice. This case would way different if young Crumbley had found/stolen the gun.

I'm all for guns, (even bought my son his own 45-70 when he was in high school) but you can't buy a crazy kid a handgun and leave him unsupervised.

Schools are a microcosm of society. No one there has guns to defend, so the lowest experienced, lowest qualified, and idiot moronic intentions, can successfully mass shoot unarmed people.

Now please remember, dems want to take our guns. What could go wrong after that?

Bad verdict imo

Dad hid the gun.

When they went to the school they were told kid wasn’t an immediate threat and school officials sent him back to class.

I mean especially if they already have prior charges… like you knowingly didn’t change anything for your kid who has multiple previous charges. That seems more like a slam dunk case than this.

Supposedly an administer noticed his bag was heavier and did nothing. And the counselor thought he should stay at school and not be taken out by the parents.

quote:

Ethan pulled the Sig Sauer from his backpack and began shooting later that same day, killing Justin Shilling, 17; Madisyn Baldwin, 17; Hana St. Juliana, 14; and Tate Myre, 16. Six more students and a faculty member were wounded. No one had checked the backpack, though a school administrator had joked about its heaviness.

Crazy they got convicted over this? When do the trials for school officials start?

If the kid was charged as an adult, this is a ridiculous fricking conviction. If he's an adult, he's responsible for himself. The government can't have it both ways.
Our legal system is horrible. Terrible.

It most certainly looks like arbitrary prosecution. In other words, selective prosecution.
