Where is the evidence they would have opted for a physical abortion vice taking a pill?

The first woman, the one with twins, was going to an abortion provider in North Carolina for a traditional abortion. She got caught in traffic and they would not hold her spot or did not have any available openings later in the day, so they offered her the pills instead.

At least that's what I recall seeing the other day.

Show me where Trump signed any laws banning any abortions anywhere. Thanks!
show me the law, post Dobbs/Roe, where the Federal gov't has any role in instituting a ban... or not.

They wouldn't, at least not necessarily. That is not the point.

a) The "pill" is less effective as pregnancy advances. Depending on EGA, the pill might not be a safe option at all. A layperson might overlook (aka ignore) that. A doctor wouldn't. But the FDA has taken the latter out of the equation.

b) Post-medical abortion, the risk of retained products of conception (RPC) increases with EGA and multiple pregnancy. A layperson might overlook (aka ignore) that. A doctor wouldn't. But the FDA has taken the latter out of the equation.

c) In the event of RPC, early intervention is critical. A layperson might not know that. A doctor would. But the FDA has taken the latter out of the equation.

God almighty, the fact that we allow procedures that kill living babies before their first breath is just barbaric.

There were al least 8 babies in MN that survived their attempted abortion only to be left on a table to die. They received no care to save them.

fricking evil.

Responses like this are the reason you all have no business writing laws that legislate someone's private medical affairs. Trump's abortion ban that is harming and killing women. Period

If one is this damned stupid, they should not be allowed to vote.

I’m a physician and this whole narrative is absolutely false.

We commonly do D&E (dilation and evacuation) procedures for what are known as “missed abortions.” Missed abortions are basically miscarriages where the mother’s uterus fails to expel the deceased fetus and it is retained. Infection and potential hemorrhage can occur if not addressed in a timely manner.

These patients should have been followed by a physician who understood that the lack of expulsion of the deceased fetus could lead to a life-threatening situation. If there was inappropriate follow up, it is medical malpractice. I work in a state where elective abortions are now illegal and we regularly do D&E’s at my facility.

This!!!!! The conflation of miscarriage with abortion sickens me.

We’ve got ads running here in Texas where an OB-GYN complains about “Ted Cruz’s” abortion law causing her to go out of state to abort her live baby who developed a birth defect.

What she leaves out: She’s over 35, engaging in high risk pregnancies, and miscarried months before developing a child with a genetic defect. And she’s preggers again!

These women want “choice” and “bodily autonomy,” but want to blame everyone else when they don’t like the consequences of their actions.

Allow? They celebrate it. It’s a badge of honor for many.

Blame the state governors, not Trump. Trump is a moderate on abortion

Imagine dying trying to kill your own baby then right away you have to explain that to God

I want to say that I read that Amber Nicole Thurman was scheduled to have physical abortion but showed up late to her appointment due to traffic (her excuse), could not reschedule, and then settled for the abortion pills.

It's probably just me, but that was likely God's way of telling her to not do it.

I'm trying to understand how Trump getting roe versus Wade reversed caused this as the OP claimed.

The OP referenced article clearly blames their death on Roe versus Wade being reversed. I guess I'm stupid cuz I am not seeing the connection.

Not a laughing matter, but at the same time it reminds me of the old joke about the guy in the flood who kept telling people God would take care of him. He dies in the flood, gets to heaven and asks God what happened. God says, "We sent two boats and a helicopter, what more did you want?"

Amber Nicole Thurman

Just read that she was a single mom of a six year old. I feel horrible for the kid that he lost his mom. But really, if you're already a single mom, shouldn't you be a little more careful about your bedroom extracurriculars? At least take some precautions.

Abortion in Georgia is illegal after detection of embryonic cardiac-cell activity, which typically begins in the fifth or sixth week after the onset of the last menstrual period (LMP). So theoretically under RvW, these women, who were further along i n their pregnancies, would have attained their mifepristone/misoprostol after medical contact and medical advise, perhaps with a scheduled medical follow up. That is the proabortion angle.

The reality is the FDA's action, making mifepristone/misoprostol essentially available OTC, is medically inexcusable. It was a proabortion, politically motivated, unscientific, imbecilic knee-jerk reaction. E.g., the "blue pill" (which carries nowhere near the risk) is easily obtained online ... but only with some sort of associated medical Q&A. That modus operandi may have saved these girls' lives.

As a corollary, manufacturers of mifepristone/misoprostol had better be damn clear about risks entailed in women taking those meds, or they're going to find themselves getting the Purdue Pharma treatment.
