FAA had list of code words black applicants were told to put in resume to stand out

FAA created a specific list of code words that the Black Caucus of Federal Aviation Employees were told to use in their resumes for when applying for FAA jobs. This allowed the HR Scanning applications to pick the Black applicants out of the batches and move them to the top of the hiring candidates list.

Affirmative action hires are always what I want in my pilots.

Anyone who didn't get a job / promotion within the FAA should sue for a lot of money.

I’m almost scared to ask what the list was because you know it was written by a white woman who was going to pick the most stereotypical crap possible that no competent candidate would put on there.

It was originally called “affirmative askion” but then after a while the government changed the name to what all the people that benefit from it call it

Sounds illegal. Like a violation of civil rights.

I've always thought you could just use keywords from the job description in your resume and accomplish the same outcome.
Other than my first job out of AU undergrad - back in the days when you mailed out cover letters and resumes - I've never acquired a job by blindly submitting a resume to a job link or submitting to some female marm in HR. It has always been word-of-mouth, being recruited by recruiters, or tracking down the person hiring (usually via LinkedIn).
I told my two nephews a couple of years ago before they graduated that if they spent a couple of hours tracking down the hiring managers for jobs and actually talk to them, they'd have a leg up on 98% of the other candidates. They had several job options each when they graduated.

This is dated 10 years ago so it’s way too late to fix.
