"Also Ukraine holds a very different place in the Russian psyche than do the Baltic states. Ukraine is intimately tied to Russian identity and seen as “part of the Russian world” by people in that region."

This, more than anything else I have seen in scanning this thread, explains why Putin has gone after UKR (and probably Crimea, as well).

Go find me all the media sourcing from 2014 discussing how NATO was referenced as a cause for anything to do with the various forms of Russian aggression in that year.
There are probably >100 of these.

Both you and Slow Brained Pro can simply go find Video and Audio evidence of our state department setting this up in 2014. It's out there. Has almost nothing to do with Trump.

Slo would say?
There is no direct evidence western powers scuttled the 2022 peace attempts.
Well, had he said that, it would have been more accurate than what he actually did say.

I like SFP. He's a bright guy who plays contrarian games. It's normally good for the board, especially on legal topics. But, regarding this specific topic, I don't understand how he could be so painfully wrong on a simple matter of fact. It's also surprising that we've had more than one exchange on this, inevitably with the result we're seeing here, yet it seems to return to a rinse-and-repeat mode.

You’re going to have to be more specific.

Is this going to be one of those arguments where the US is on record for supporting an election result, but you claim that it’s evidence of nefarious activity?

Whats weird about him is he ran on populism and said similar things to Trump during his campaign.

So according to the left, he's a nazi. The russians have been fighting the nazis for a while.

Furk off dork. You’re not impressing anyone here. Old Army knew what the Cold War was about. And knew that America’s standing in the world meant sticking with principles and delivering on promises.

New Army would be someone like you, who decides that whatever an aggressor like Putin wants they should get, because Trump doesn’t want to challenge them on it. That’s actually being limp wristed in practice.

I’m sure you’re ok with the USA not being trusted by anyone anymore, but it’s sure as hell not what Old Army is about.

The old Army wouldnt be sticking up for nazi dictators in Ukraine. We actually would have fought them alongside the soviets.

All Zelensky has done is come in and act like a dictator and do the opposite of what he said he would do.

Which is the exact criticism he gave Poroshenko.

Ukraine went into complete shite with Zelensky. And he won't win an election again, which is why he won't have them.

Looks like your history book is missing a few chapters.

Poland would be happy to fill in the gaps of your understanding.

So your argument here is that the soviets weren't allies in ww2?

What history book have you been reading?

quote:

In April 2021 Zelenskyy spoke to American president Joe Biden and urged NATO members to speed up Ukraine's request for membership

But yeah

quote:

On 26 November 2021, Zelenskyy accused Russia and Ukrainian oligarch Rinat Akhmetov of backing a plan to overthrow his government.

quote:

In December 2021, Zelenskyy called for preemptive action against Russia.

quote:

On 28 January, Zelenskyy called on the West not to create a "panic" in his country over a potential Russian invasion

Instigated by the comedian dictator

Trump won the election, and him winning the election killed support for Ukraine.

Would preventing the loss of 100K+ Ukrainian lives, basically for nothing except "Pressing Putin," constitute "killed support for Ukraine"?

Russia was struggling and teetering on the brink of their own collapse

You're joking ... I hope?

If only Ukraine would have announced an investigation into Biden

A premise which travels lightyears beyond stupid.

Trump is going to stab Ukraine in the back.

Good Lord!
Employing young Ukrainians as combat fodder for ZERO PURPOSE except to ""Press Putin"" ... tens, perhaps hundreds, of thousands of men with their whole lives in front of them .... slaughtered to """" press Putin """" ???????

You support that shite?
Seriously?
Do you sport "Slava Ukraini" quotes and a Ukraine flag on other forums?

And since '90 and '91, two Russian adjacent countries have joined and a third was requesting membership.

But nahhh, they weren't encroaching on Russia at all.

They clamored to join NATO and the EU to get away from their former Russian masters.

Trump messed up with his Ukraine comments. Everyone is starting to realize the 80 year old grifter is in Putin’s pocket.

Literally any history book can tell you where the Soviets interests’ were before Hitler invaded them. For example:

Germany and the USSR agreed to carve up Poland on August 23, 1939 when they signed the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, a non-aggression pact that included a secret protocol outlining the division of Eastern European territories, including Poland, between the two nations; they formally partitioned Poland on September 29, 1939, following the German invasion of Poland on September 1st and the subsequent Soviet invasion on September 17th.
