right, 142,000 exactly in a 100+ million job market, exactly for that reason with everything else that goes on in an economy.
No, 142,000 that were a direct result of the tariffs. They didn't just see whether jobs went up or down and then blamed it on tariffs. They analyzed the effects.

Similarly, we are a service economy. Everyone knows this. So we run a deficit in terms of goods and a surplus in terms of service. Why is that a surprise to...anybody?
I agree with you, but that’s also changing a bit with remote work. A lot of services have been offshored to India, China, etc.

We don't need tariffs to accomplish that goal.
You think the same politicians who have allowed US manufacturing to be sodomized by the world for decades are going to suddenly recognize that we are too dependent on those foreign countries? Really?

As recently as 2021 (latest year I could find data on) service still made up 77% of the American economy.
It's going to have to change an awful lot to move that needle much.

100% correct. Assembled in Ohio by an illegal alien with parts made in Indonesia.

Always. Well, in the interest of full disclosure... assembled in the USA. I couldn't find one 100% USA. But hopefully that will change soon.

I deal with freight companies every day. Anymore, if Google says you don’t exist, you don’t exist according to them. Not sure that’s a bad thing.

It's amazing that people are so incapable of understanding any nuance around here.

The percentage of cars bought in Europe, made outside of Europe, does not come close to that of cars bought in America, made outside of America. This is how it is for most items in Europe. The impact of tariffs on an EU economy is rather minimal. It's not like that in the US where we import so much stuff.
Why do you think Europe imports so little compared to the US and is therefore less impacted by tariffs? It's the tariffs. Europe not being heavily impacted by foreign tariffs is a strength according to your argument, so why are you arguing against the US strengthening itself in the same way? That's irrational.
Wouldn't it be great if the US was able to not be that impacted by tariffs? Maybe we can up production stateside. Oh, that's exactly what Trump is doing, and you're fighting him for it. You somehow think the American consumer being reliant on foreign production while our own companies are excluded from foreign markets is somehow beneficial to us. It blows my mind.

I'm aware. It still needs to happen. We aren't everybody's daddy. Just like sometimes the kids are upset eden cut off, we'll deal with that as it comes

Europeans and Canadians are about to find out how truly expensive their lives are. We've been subsidizing their lives in ways they can't even guess.

I didn’t realize it was possible to be this obtuse.

We get almost half our cars from overseas, and most auto parts. A tariff on those things is massive inflation for us. That's how the math works out.
Doubling down I see
And it’s hilarious to see you and others frame the EU as some diminutive market. They have 30% more people than we do.

Because no country in the EU has a built-in domestic potential market share of 340 million people and they are hoping to protect their producers. Imposing tariffs prioritizes your country's producers and hurts your consumers.
We have 340MM and the EU has 450MM
Your argument makes no sense.

"concession" sounds like a step in the right direction but "capitulation" is the real word they need to be using
Im hoping he puts the tariffs in place WHILE they work on concessions, otherwise this will end up being like the 10 years of cocktail party global warming/recession/change nonsense where they send 20,000 people to the desert in airconditioned rooms and all jet in to tell us to stop using straws.

First:
Look at what the EU is talking about within concessions, its not just tariffs. They charge vat on goods, they make up these shatty little import rules to block our goods, wink wink, without blocking our goods. Non gmo, our cows arent manicured before slaughter, a lot of nonsense.
Second.
We are the largest consumer market in the world, we should not even have a level playing field, we SHOULD BE the most expensive market to enter.
You ever try to get a product slotted in Wal Mart, you have any idea how much you have to ante up just to get a shot???????
