Becoming part of the Disney conglomerate
It looks like ABC acquired ESPN in 1984, and Disney bought ABC in 1995. so at least becoming part of the conglomerate didn't seem to change much in and of itself.

The hypocrisy has no boundaries. This morning I was listening to Florio on 1350 while he was SB radio row. He's on NBCsn. Florio took shots at Trump's "travel ban" and brings in that idiot Peter King to echo his comments. They paid lip service to the idea that fans want them to shut up about talking politics and stick to sports. Later in the discussion, both guys complained about the increased security around the SB and how inconvenient it was to get around. Why the hell is there "so much security", Florio? King?

I used to watch Sportscenter daily. Haven't watched in a couple of years and don't miss it.

outlet of choice. When will sports be just sports again? This is a rhetorical question because we know this will never happen, doesn't stop me from ranting and/or melting every time this kind of shite sports journalism pops up.

Progressives work to literally infiltrate every aspect of society and twist it to fit their narrative. There will be no more "outlets". The left saw to that under Obama. The NFL, NBA, MLB, etc, are all infiltrated now to push an agenda rather than entertainment.

Richard Sherman actually nailed this point earlier this year in regards to the NFL.

The left owns every aspect in terms of pushing the narrative: media, academics, Hollywood, and now sports. Either learn to mute your TV or quit watching.

My tv never goes to espn unless there is a game on. Their programming is awful.

It's not even just the sports channels, but the games themselves. Kneeling at the national anthem overblown controversy. Every pro event is also essentially a military worship service. If say you caught a soccer game in some random country and they did all that, every game, you would think everyone was off their rockers.

Then when are we all going to rise up and fight fire with fire ... fight back like the left fights back?

Or do we have no outlets?

Clay Travis has been talking about this for over a year how ESPN constantly is pushing an agenda and getting away from sports coverage.

Although Clay Travis is an insufferable prick, I've slowly developed a grudging respect for him because of his calling out of ESPN.

ESPN had a segment last night about Mohamed Sanu and proceeds to say his family lives in Sierra Leone (which is unaffected by the temporary ban, a fact conveniently left out by ESPN).

Not only can people from Sierra Leone still come, but Sierra Leone is such a miserable shithole that our doctors specifically ask if you've been there lately before every appointment (along with Liberia and one other I can't recall). The US has certainly not closed it's doors.

One day all of these big wigs at the various entertainment companies will get that the consumers want singers, actors, sports anchors, athletes, etc to stay out of politics.

I quit watching except for live sports after the Bruce Jenner deal.

I watch sports to escape politics, not to be preached to about how great a man dressing up as a woman is, or any other political stance people who have are paid to entertain, decide to vomit writ large on the airwaves.

-The morning after the Joe Mixon video was made public of him punching a female student in the face breaking it in 4 places, the lead story on ESPN was Grayson Allen kind of tripping someone against a D3 opponent no one had ever heard of. On a later ABC Sugar Bowl broadcast Brent Musburger defended Mixon on air during the game.

-When deciding on the Arthur Ashe courage award between Lauren Hill, a women's college bball player who played with a terminal brain tumor before eventually dying, O.J. Brigance a former Ravens linebacker and executive who suffered from ALS, and Bruce Jenner who chose to be a girl, they picked Bruce who hasn't been relevant in the sports world for over 3 decades.

-They gave an ESPY to Missouri for a literal fake protest started by lies, racist propaganda, a fake event that took place off campus, and a "poop swastika" drawn by a black guy.

ESPN has been off the rails for a while. It's as if they are purposely trying to further alienate their main consumer base.

The Mixon video was released on the 16th, and the Grayson Allen incident occured on the 21st.

I'm not sure what makes this political. He was just stating that he believes in second chances, especially since Brent had that infamous open container incident.

I'm just not sure about the Joe Mixon case as it relates to their political slant, especially based on what you provided.

Now these:

Seemed overtly political, especially Mizzou, although they weren't fake protests despite their dishonest basis.
