The Republican Party of Lincoln was not the Republican Party of Trump.
And we all know that in the days of Jim Crow that southern Democrats opposed
equal rights for black citizens. Again,

Well technically not really true. The northern states could not get enough union states to ratify the 13th amendment, delaware, new jersey and all the border states voted against they had to wait for Georgia ( confederate state) to come back and pass the 13th amendment. So im assuming Georgia was still run by democrats.
