I have a customer who has a guy just like this that works for him. Guys in his 60’s and is racist as hell, but is a democrat, through and through. Talked politics with him once a couple of years and he was adamant that the Russia stuff was true and the laptop was Trump made. Never talked politics with him again.

I’ve met 1,000 old guys like that here in South Florida. Guarantee you he is a blue collar retiree from a Northeast. He worked outdoors in freezing weather in the winter and had 4-5 beers after dinner ever night. He mowed his own lawn, fixed his own car and voted Democrat in every Presidential election.
When he finally collected his union pension, he found out that the state taxed that as well as his social security. Then he found out that they don’t tax it in Florida. So he moved to Paradise and bought a little house that cost twice as much as the house he just sold that was 500 SF larger. But at least it has a pool now. Then he realized he doesn’t how how to maintain a pool and that South Florida grass needs to be mowed every week of the year and that heat and humidity is absolutely unbearable.
So he he hired people to clean his pool and do his landscaping and figured out that between those services, property taxes, homeowner’s association dues and assessments, property insurance and a ridiculous electric bill from running the A/C 24/7/365 that he was spending 10X as much on bullshite than what he would have had to pay in taxes on any pension or retirement withdrawals. And of course, even though Democrats are the ones responsible for higher taxes, insurance and energy costs, he’ll still take out his anger on Republicans like he always has.

About as spot on a post I've seen on this board. It's unbelievable the dumb shite I have heard these frick head snowbirds spout over the years. They are a plague on the South.
