It isn't my side. Both parties have failed horribly in this situation. I just feel the Republicans have failed harder.

i assume you had the same opinion at the last government shutdown during Obama's term? Democrats wanted money to fund Obamacare (which was supposed to pay for itself) and the republicans said "no, we don't want to fund that?"

and it's the weaker of the two points for sure. while i think Dems are wrong here, I don't fault them for balking at it. But saying "we want this" is no different than saying "we don't want this."

Not really. The whole ultimatum thing was directly addressing his statement.

One side is saying we will give you absolutely nothing you want. You give us what we want, and maybe, just maybe we can talk about what you want in a few weeks.

One side is saying, we will give you a lot of what you want, and you give us what we want.
