Anecdotal but I have a friend who is stationed at an embassy in a war torn country in Africa at the moment and she said she’s much more worried about Elon’s emails than the pending terror threat

This might be the dumbest thing I've read all day.
1. People are dying to work for Musk. Look at the hiring process for Space X or Tesla. You don't just fill out an app and show up Monday, there are way more candidates than positions and they are very choosy. So you can drop the shitty comments about the richest dork and flunkies. It's empirically dead wrong.
2. Nobody is actually reporting to Musk, he was delegated to come up with these ideas by the commander in chief and head of the executive branch, who they do report to.
keep melting baw

Not to a .gov address. And we can only log in behind a government firewall. Which people on leave or days off clearly can’t do.

Because our job is separating airplanes and we have zero use for email.
No.
Your job is doing what the boss says. It so happens that you have a very good skill in airplane seperation so they would be dumb to ask you to bake cookies or review office inventory. But they totally can. And you can quit if you don't like it. I have done so myself.
Look at it this way - if they ask you to use a new form to fill out for every airplane departure or taxiway incursion, would you flip out? Reporting is absolutely a part of everyone's job. Whether you're reporting subject matter issues or procedural issues, you have to report.
Personally if I were you, I'd report five big problems you worked through and ask for help or offer suggestions. It's an opportunity to go on record.

RAV is reporting that RFKJR is now directing his employees to comply with the Email at issue. Trump guys will get in the back room and work it out. Gaining steam.

They aren't interested in this. They are more interested in playing the victim card and insubordination.

You have zero clue what your are talking about. Do you realize not every federal employee is sitting at a desk behind a PC all day? Not to mention our short staffing and that we've worked 6 day weeks for years on end with mandatory OT.
Elon is not my boss. DOGE is not my boss. OPM is not my boss. We don't accept work assignments from X posts either
All of our times on positions and activities are already recorded with time stamps and tracking programs. Also, I'm currently at home on leave today. If I do end up going in to do this stupid shite (can't access .gov email from home), I plan on describing 5 different shits I took on the clock last week.

No doubt. Just playing devils advocate.
I can’t imagine the stress of someone on vacation worried that a tweet will lead to them losing their job. As unlikely as it is, it’ll be in the back of your mind.
I thought they didn't have access? Why would they know about something that would cause them stress if they didn't have access? Hmmm.
Companies have 3rd party audits ALL THE TIME.
If you are so scared to list 5 basic things you did the past week, you are a terrible employee.
Its really not difficult. AT ALL.

Because Elon is tweeting about it. It’s not a secret.
ETA: blind support for everything Trump and Elon is as bad as blind hate for them. Like I said, this is a devil’s account position. Something most folks here are unaware is an option

Yes, I manage over a dozen people who all work from home and I don't ask them to give me a list of 5 things they accomplish every week.
No one is asking them to send this email every week.
Why is it so hard for people to understand what is happening? A new boss came in and this is the quickest, most efficient way to get a snapshot of what is going on in each department. These people will not be reporting to DOGE every week. People are really blowing this out of proportion because they can't manage their emotions.

I check in on my folks to see how things are going, but not in the manner of "give me a list of 5 things that you've done last week". That seems micro-managy and a slightly autistic way to measure performance
Cool. Now pretend you oversee 1 million employees. You still gonna check in with them individually?
It's insane that anyone has a problem with this. People bitch about wasted money but then they bitch when someone finally tries to fix it.
Like the smart people have said, this is just a brief overview that will only be used to filter out the most useless employees. It's literally just a "see who responds" activity, and you people are acting like this email will be the sole determination in who gets let go.
When did our country get so soft?

Most remote jobs should have some way to measure production (some sort of tangible result) without having to ask for a list of things that you accomplished in the past week.
You better notify Salesforce and every other CRM software company that their services are no longer needed.

A few things I learned early in the corporate world thanks to my mentor:
1. When you’re walking around the office always walk with purpose.
2. If the boss stops you and asks what you’re doing..always have 3 things.
3. If somebody asks you what your working on, be able to rattle off enough stuff until they get tired of hearing it.

Elon isn't any of their bosses though. I totally get managers and chain of command asking for this info....
They are going through everything, do you think elons team may actually look at schedules and see vacation. It may also be a way to get rid of shitty managers who couldn't take 5 minutes and send an email with a list of their employees that are on vacation, leave or some other excusable reason they are not at work

It’s simple, Elon (and his computer science graduates) aren’t experts on anything related to government and the tasks performed by the plethora of different departments and employees, thus we get situations like this that make no sense and makes the world laugh at us.
It’s like hiring a very good plumber to assess a doctor. If you want to assess a doctor, you get someone who is actually an expert in the field to do it, else you’re just wasting your money.
When it comes to budgets and funding the numbers are the numbers and numbers stay the same whether you are working in government, a law firm, a plumbing company, or a doctor. When you are spending more than you bring in, you must make cuts. Really simple.
I don't care what the rest of the world thinks about us! They won't be laughing at us when we cut financial obligations with them.

The DOD is telling us not to reply to it so there is alot confusion going on

BINGO. Every aspect of this has suffered from poor planning and execution. Yet, saying that gets any number of names hurled your way.
