I fully anticipate he will indeed build an alternative phone. And it's internet will be provided by Starlink.

At the risk of drawing the ire of folks, I have heard people refer to these devices as Q phones (for quantum). Eventually we will do all our banking and even vote on these phones. Unhackable. Secure. Election theft and things like identity theft will be a thing of the past.

Starlink offering a cell service would completely change phone industry forever. No more having to be close to towers. And your internet would still work in airplanes.

[quote]This actually is not as crazy as it sounds when Starlink is operating at 100%[/quote

Exactly what I thought, he could make them vertically integrated with his system, oh lah lah, wouldnt that be a kick in the head.

Totally leapfrogging the cell companies, the providers, hmm, necessity is the mother of invention.

It is a paradigm shift in the technology.

Consider streaming services, the cost of content is exorbitant and ongoing. With 9 billion potential customers(given starlink) Musk wont have that problem, he will charge them to be on his system.

Ask any consumer products company how much they pay to be listed in Wal Mart.

I am thinking quantum computing is still a ways off. Could be wrong, though.

Multiplayer games work fine on Starlink, so voice would not be a problem at all.

Can't have any delay when you're racing inches from another guy or looking to frag some dude.

The “big deal”, is that it will be rolled out by an “anti-communist”, free speech organization that is fighting the machine!

For all the simple minded folks out there, it would be wise to support “anti-communist” organizations and not just look at prices.

As long as Elon is fighting against the machine, I’ll support Anything they roll out “EXCEPT for Electric Vehicles” on a broad spectrum.

I think there could a relatively small sector of the vehicle industry that it could work, like in MAJOR CITIES, for folks who do not venture out and parking is shower tight, maybe get one of those little tin can cars or scooters and plug them in once you get to work, but that’s about it. I’m not a big fan of electric vehicles, but other than that, I AM TEAM ELON!!!

My understanding is quantum computing is here(it exists). It's not widely available though, like mainframe days. If you want to learn more IBM has free quantum cloud services

He is kidding / bluffing.

But at this point of Elon-mythology, people believe he can invent then walk on water.

If his point is that he wants to sell it to a certain segment of the population who are right wingers, it will never succeed for lack of sufficient available market. It is never a good idea to limit your market based on ideology.
