Skateboarders cannot change direction and control descent midair with onboard propellant.

What on board power systems do skateboarders use to control direction and descent?

Why do people even engage with him? He’s a professional contrarian.

"Flying" is being a bit generous, depending on one's definition of the word. It's not exactly the Jetsons but it did travel farther with it's jump over the Tesla vehicles than the first flight of the Wright brothers. There's a version which claims full flight, but that hasn't been showcased yet. What we've seen is controlled temporary lift burst and then controlled falling (gliding and landing).

All that said, what they accomplished was incredible. The entire back seat was taken up by the compressor, but the fact that it was able to accomplish advanced spins and landings like it did is extremely impressive.

The most important thing to remember in this is that this is just an early phase of the tech.

The act of sustaining and directing motion through an atmosphere by generating aerodynamic lift and exerting control over trajectory and attitude. This would be in contrast to what the Roadster is likely to do, which is projectile motion.

This SFP idiot is something else….the car directed its velocity; it didn’t simply “jump” or follow “ballistic motion”

Skateboarders are still controlled by gravity alone.. this is manipulating gravity

Do you believe the first Wright brothers fights were actually flying?

One of the most practical features is the fan pulling the car to the ground for stabilizing high speed turns. Really interesting.

In this scenario, the car still isn't flying.

Flight or flying is the motion of an object through an atmosphere or through the vacuum of space, in this case also called spaceflight, without contacting any planetary surface. This can be achieved by generating aerodynamic lift associated with gliding or propulsive thrust.

The car maintains lift using rocket propulsion. As the car falls, the rockets fire, its fall is stopped, it travels a short distance forward while maintaining lift, and then lands. Even if for a short distance, that is flight by definition. It doesn't have to meet your arbitrary requirements for flight.

And the only reason you are criticizing it is that it is Musk. If it were a Democrat supporter like Bezos, you would have nothing to say.

Notice in this gif how the car does not simply fall straight down but instead moves forward for quite a distance before touching back down. That is flight no matter how much that retard wants to try and deny it. If it is capable of generating upward and forward/backward thrust, it is flying.

As I said last night, the biggest lesson in this thread is that Slippin' Jimmy is not a man of his word. You would have been better off giving your money to a Somalian Prince expecting an RoI of 10 million dollars than wagering anything with Slippin' Jimmy.

The car flew from it's very first demonstration and that retard denied it back on like the 2nd page of this thread. If the car would have transformed into a helicopter and lifted 5,000 feet into the air Slippin' Jimmy would have still denied it was flight because it didn't have wings and generate aerodynamic lift.
