Wrong.

It's not wrong. Elon discussed this. Did you even watch?

The cause of the jump is irrelevant.

It's not a flying car. It has compressed gas boosters to make it accelerate faster. These can be pointed at the ground to make it lift off briefly.

I guess in certain traffic conditions the ability to jump over a few vehicles could come in handy.

It would have to be an automated safety feature. Not a man on Earth would push that button in time.

You are the poster boy for “well achtually” meme because you don’t like Elon’s politics. Just like every other leftist in the world, if an accomplished human criticizes the leftist power structure, you just then shite on everything they do. Just shut up and enjoy a man and company who is doing something no one in the world is capable of doing.

He is a trailblazer. Pretending otherwise is just jealousy.

"lift off briefly" = jump, FWIW

This is obvious.

When anyone thinks "flying car" they think of it is a viable alternate means of travel. This thing isn't going to fly across town.

What Elon said is that it flies through the air like a rocket. Which it did. Again, wrong.

Starting to think your daily goal is to start at least one thread so incomprehensibly stupid that you are the punching bag of the day. No sane person thinks this thing was flying through the air like a rocket.

LINK

quote:

Tesla claims the thrusters generate four to five times the force the tires can handle, which is how it gets around the traction limit that caps every other car’s acceleration.

The suction system does the opposite job. Tesla says its fans pull enough air from under the car to hold it upside down, even when stationary. In Track Mode, the car lowers itself and deploys active wings driven by the same actuators Tesla developed for Optimus. Tesla claims downforce “approaching F1 levels.”

That demo was friggin' awesome, but you have to know it didn't fly, right?

Exactly. It's a bad arse marvel of engineering. It's not a flying car.

I'm also commenting on legal viability, which I do know a lot about

No, you don’t. You are rely on others ignorance of the law so you can pretend to be an expert on all areas of the law. Being a patent law expert doesn’t make you an expert on criminal law, or family law, or maritime, etc…. But you keep pretending you are because you suffer from severe imposter syndrome and self doubt.

Stop acting like a tool. Go do that in another thread.

Nobody is discussing expertise, other than Elon and the Tesla engineers.

Conversational competence =/= expertise

What is wrong with you? You are clearly not an 1/8th as accomplished as Elon nor have you ever created anything. Until you do, please keep your EDS under control. So he isn’t a leftist socialist twat. He still creates amazing things that no one really does anymore. Stop letting your politics invade your mind so you can try and downplay something really cool and more technologically advanced than anyone is creating right now.

Some people play a contrarian lawyer on a message board and some people push the boundaries of science and have little time to banter on a message board.....instead they occasionally make a few quips on their own social media platform know as X.

How does it “fly” that disqualifies it from being considered flight, by your definition?

Amazing, we’ve finally gotten cars that can fly.

Defining flight:

quote:

The act of sustaining and directing motion through an atmosphere by generating aerodynamic lift and exerting control over trajectory and attitude.

This would be in contrast to what the Roadster is likely to do, which is projectile motion.

I will bet a large amount of money the car doesn't fly

You think they built that huge ramp so as to get everyone all excited about it and then "unveil" a spectacular crash test?
