Also, how does someone making a couple hundred thousand per year become millionaires over time?

While living in the DC area.

ie-It isn't cheap.

Remember when AOC claimed she couldn't afford to live there on her salary?

Problem is with an ultra connected society, none of this is possible.

It is possible. Hell, it's possible to not even have fallen into the fear-anger, in/out group reaction cycle (see: me).

Hell even in a non-connected society you don't see much in the way of interacting with the out group

That's not even true.

Even in relatively extreme areas, you're not looking at even 65-35 voting splits almost anywhere.

OK is typically the most conservative state and they went 66% for Trump in a year where everything went Trump's way. In 2020, Biden got less than 64% of the vote in Cali.

Yeah but don't you think it's weird how there are more on the fringe of both sides than there ever has been?

I get that's going to be 50/50 +-5 but the ones on the fringe for both sides have increased more and more going back to the Reagan/Bush/Clinton days.

I'm not even talking politics.

People in general gather in groups like themselves and disassociate with groups not like themselves.

Getting people to become more rational and robotical about this type of thinking that is ingrained in our human civilization is just not possible.

Unless you are Catholic. Then you are good to go?

Great TEDtalk

I don't think this is true. It just seems that way due to curated media/content consumption.

Below is a picture of boomers in their youth:

If you want the easiest talking point about this focus issue, just talk to a Millennial or Genxer about violent crime, because they grew up in a MUCH more violent era than today. Why are they so wrong? They see it more today.

Nope. Doesn’t change the fact that Obama created it and you were ignorant of that fact. I do find it interesting that you didn’t object until it started suggesting cutting spending. Very telling.

People just need to stop being so emotional and allowing social media to create the echo chambers reinforcing this fear-anger response causing this polarity.

The problem with this simple statement is that it’s coming on the heels of revelations that the US government has been issuing billions of dollars for foreign and domestic subversion, censorship, and extremely unpopular immigration coordination efforts.

The few people who were keenly aware of this kind of thing for years were lambasted and scorned as delusional conspiracy theorists from educated classical liberals like you. So not only are they totally vindicated, but they are also angry.

You aren’t taking these matters as seriously as you should. What would be your message to these people? Has your own faith not been shaken to a degree as well? And if it hasn’t, how do you explain that?

Yeah I guess I didn't have a problem with it before it was used as a way to give Elon Musk and his private servers oversight over all government spending and full access to every department of the federal government.

We are in a patronage system akin to England in the 1800's where representatives weren't necessarily tied to the populous.

I don't think this means what you think it means given the current situation.

clutch those pearls. He is making recommendations. You prefer a lifelong government employee to make these recommendations. We get it.

unelected Billionaire running a government department that wasn’t set up by congress that is freezing funding allocated by congress.

Not every executive branch employee is elected

You turds are actually fighting against transparency. You’re literally arguing that the executive branch cannot investigate executive spending. You’re arguing that the judicial branch can force the executive branch to not audit itself.

You’re arguing that nobody except perhaps the president himself can root out fraud and waste.

You know what the non-unhinged populace see? They see your party going nuts trying to keep the status quo. They see your party trying to keep them in the dark about their tax dollars. This is bad policy and bad optics, man.

Weird hill to die on.

“The funding is all allocated properly and no money is being wasted and no fraud!….but you have to take our word for it and it’s unconstitutional for you to even check us!”
