That's silly. Only rich people invest.
It’s about time we punish that evil 1% who invest in retirement, aye comrade?

Oh, that's happening. It's called the SECURE Act.

The plan would eliminate as much as $50,000 in student loan debt for each person with less than $100,000 in household income. The $50,000 in relief would gradually diminish for people with household incomes between $100,000 and $250,000 ($1 less relief for every $3 earned). People with household income of more than $250,000 would not receive debt cancellation.

I'm scared we are going to lose this battle, so frick it. I'm in. Give me some free money too.

I cancelled my own student debt. It took seven years of making payments.

Households? Is the b*** implying that 100K is the parents income? Why should MY income have anything to do with my daughters debt?
OH, and loan forgiveness is bullshite!

Spoken like a true deadbeat. What a surprise.
Reality check: he is well off and it would not royally frick him.
It would be frustrating, it wouldn't feel fair, and it might hurt his feelings.
The only question that should be asked is: would the proposed student loan forgiveness and proposed changes be a net positive or net negative for this country?
Everything else is just snowflake garbage.

I incurred it, and I’ll pay it.
These people are thieves.
If you went to college for 3 years. Took max student loans. Barely passed most of your classes. Dropped out. Work at Starbucks. Married another dropout who works at Lowes and you both still party a bunch and play too much. CANCELLED!!!!
If you went........busted your arse.......got undergrad degree........decided to keep busting your arse.........got Grad degree........landed solid near 6 figure job right out of college...........married your sweetheart who also got a decent job..............frick YOU! PAY THAT shite!

How are these people lazy because they are making less than 100k?
Ok, lazy was the wrong word.
Selfish, entitled, greedy, irresponsible all work better.

The money isn’t getting paid back. We’re all better off canceling the debt than sentencing these people to a lifetime of serfdom.

Can you imagine getting drunk as hell for four to six years with that General Business degree making $42,000 as some entry level analyst only to find out you getting all that drinking paid for?

The libertarian in me dies inside reading this.
The guy who paid off 25k of student loans in me will be pissed the hell off.

People would be far more open to this if they changed the way future loans were made as part of the legislation. Make them more degree/risk based. Make forgiving student loans part of bankruptcy like a normal loan.

So I think I've found one of your three liberal positions you're always asking for.

But why?
Why should this group be forced to pay back their debts but not others.
Again, you leftists just want to punish those who are actually successful.
I think student loan forgiveness is a bad idea for a number of reasons. But it’s even worse that you means test it.
