Even with multiple gerbil wheels, you're going to have to devote acreage to producing Gerbil feed.
That acreage then can't be used to make vegetable oil.
No vegetable oil? Lack of vitamin absorbtion by certain populations...gestational lack in their children....children will cost more to educate...and produce less as adults unless you put them on bicycles every day to spin wheels to make electricity.

Nah, they want people concentrated into cities, living in tiny apartments, and taking public transit.

This is the responsible thing to do, but compliance has been woefully inadequate.

The ERCOT head stated that on Monday the power grid load dropped around 2PM -- the time they asked consumers to cut back. So Texans are complying. Even the Texas Rangers raised temps at Globe Life Field from 72 to 75.

Yeah...many facilities along the Houston Ship Channel suspended operations yesterday and more than likely will do it again today to help ease the strain on the grid.

People are trying to reduce their electricity usage but we're also pissed because we've been told MULTIPLE times that ERCOT has made changes to ensure adequate supply and it's not true. Yes, we're in a heat wave and a drought, that happens here. Our current situation is not as severe as the summer of 2011 though, meaning they've had 11 years to prepare for this type of summer and they know that we've seen substantial population growth since then.

This article from April 2021, showing they ran the models of "extreme scenarios" and KNEW we were unprepared. Yet more than a year later, here we are in one of those extreme scenarios and we're... still unprepared.

quote:

Heading into the summer, ERCOT included three extreme scenarios in a preliminary assessment of the state’s power resources for the summer — the most extreme calculations ERCOT has ever considered for the seasonal assessment. Each scenario would leave the grid short a significant amount of power, which would trigger outages to residents:

In the first scenario, a drought similar to what the state saw in 2011, combined with low winds, several natural gas plants offline and an increase in economic activity as the pandemic eases, would leave the power grid short 3,600 megawatts, or enough to power 720,000 homes.

Add low solar power generation to the first projection (say it’s a cloudy day), and the grid would be short 7,500 megawatts, or enough to power 1.5 million homes.

In the most extreme scenario ERCOT considered, a severe heat wave across the entire state combined with outages for every major power source would leave the grid short 14,000 megawatts, or enough to power 2.8 million homes.

Abbott Tweet: Texas has taken unprecedented steps to protect our power infrastructure & increase generation to ensure that the grid is capable of meeting demand.

Abbott Tweet: The Public Utilities Chair explains why the power grid is more reliable:

We have also paid increased rates and all sorts of "recovery fees" based on the February 2021 freeze that we were told were being used to upgrade our grid. Yet here we are.

The fun part is we have scattered thunderstorms around DFW today. Just had The Open interrupted by a severe thunderstorm warning broadcast.

And yet, no drop in temps forecasted. We had light rain for about an hour this morning and all that did was make the pavement steam as the temps increased.

Targeted by whom - Elon Musk. Did you read your own post? Holy farts - some of you are so full of hate you can't think.

failure to grasp what is stated and what the topic is.

Well - the topic is that EV's are being targeted - but you fail to mention the person you quote is the CEO of the largest EV company in the world. Further, you fail to notice the flexibility of EV's where a message can be sent to owners to request their help in difficult times. You'd never be able to do that with ICE cars during a fuel shortage.

Finally, some EV's can give back to the grid and in the near future all will. So EV's charging at night - whent he grid is not stressed, can SUPPORT the grid during the day if they are still plugged in. Holy Farts again.

one of the fun aspects of capitalism is how nothing gets done unless the stockholders make bank off it. consequently theres no real planning. every two years new house of representatives.
anything long term is laughed off the stage.
this same issue was during quincy adams. he wanted to do a canal to the lakes from albany. public private. congress said no.
out here in sunny California the electric company is billing us 4 billion to put the transmission underground.
reduce fires. and not need to power down if windy. pay up Texas. its all about the Benjamins.
