Because the media didn't keep Obama in his place, you don't think they should be trying to keep Trump in his place?
The question is why didn't they hold Obama accountable? It's because they were on his side. They're not objective. Therefore, they cannot cover Trump objectively. Trump was right when he called them the opposition. That's how they see themselves. Once the press chooses sides, it ceases to be the press. They become advocates and propagandists.

Too late. Wikileaks exposed them and they've doubled down since then. They have brought this on their own head. It'll take years to recover.

In terms of rectitude and integrity, journalists have earned a reputation similar to that of used car salesman, lawyers, and insurance companies. America needs the media to check the government and to check each other and they can't do that if no one actually believes them. Trump did not discredit them. They did that to themselves by being advocates for the Democratic party instead of real journalists.

It should scare everyone that people trust the media less than a lot of politicians these days. By throwing away their own credibility, they've handed power over to the government.

Probably sooner. The press covered up FDR's condition, JFK's medical problems and philandering, etc. The tendency of the press to cover for Democrats and take the axe to Republicans have been going on since the Great Depression at least.

The Watergate story was a gift from God for them. They were able to torpedo a Republican while actually getting most of the facts right.

The Media is the problem.

The media should be reporting on the fight in the ring, not telling one fighter the weaknesses of the other fighter.

That is called coaching.

You guys are right.

But we can't reverse fields. And as a liberal you have my word --- I'll hold them accountability if liberals win the office next time.

I wish I wasn't banned during the election. I got in INTENSE arguments with liberals because I noted that the liberal Medias personal biases against trump was coming out in their journalism and that he was using It against them

The White House is completely justified in banning a few outlets from the press pool entirely. That much power is big problem.

And it's a problem they created by the nature of their "coverage" the past couple of years.

Chris Matthews was asked why he never criticized Obama in 8 years. His answer was very truthful:
"Because he's never said or done anything that I disagreed with."

Which is why the theory that a room that is 90% anything can overcome his answer through simple professionalism is painfully stupid

100% FALSE!

The media should report the news. Where it desires, it can certainly, and should, include opinion, as long as opinion is clearly defined as such. However, the media almost universally lacks expertise to "play devils advocate".

Sorry media should be capable of playing Devils Advocate but they have no desire to for obvious reasons that became clear from all the leaks. Media should be able to put competent analysts from both sides and discuss the issue. This should happen but it obviously does not.

Oh I agree totally.

competent analysts
Competent analysts are generally not the media though.
In terms of reporting, analysis would be accomplished via interviews of actual experts, or OpEds by those experts.

A check, yes.

An adversary to only certain forms of government, no.
