Earth is billions of years old

Quantifiable climate tracking data/technology is maybeeeee 100 years old.
With truly accurate instruments being used we’ll call more like 30 years old.
We have nothing to compare our modern day climate data to other than speculation and “good guesses”. Yet some people are willing to just throw all their eggs in this basket because some fat rich white man told them it’s a huge epidemic.

I’ll start listening when Fargo ND is 80 degrees year round.

I'm skeptical that humans have a large enough impact on climate change, but the concept still makes sense.
IMO we need sensible pollution control, however we don't need to go overboard spending billions to achieve a 2% reduction though, as an example.

the companies that profit from those expenditures disagree with you

Yes the earth is billions of years old and life in some form has been on the earth for a billion years. I am a geologist so I know a bit about earth being warm and then earth being cold and then warm again. But in the very modern world of the late 20th and early 21st century I get a kick out of all the hand wringing done and perceived efforts needed to save our planet and climate. Mother earth doesn't give a rats arse about us humans and she will be here supporting life after our specialized azzes are gone to the fossil record.

I'm pretty convinced that lobbyist money and kickbacks are one of the main reasons the Dems push it so hard.

Well that's not true.

Spoken like a true geologist and I should know my dad was one.

You realize there are indirect ways of measuring the past, for example analyzing the composition of ice cores. Just because you're unaware of or don't understand the methods doesn't mean it's all whack.

6000 years old, ish

By that logic we weren't there billions of years ago so how do we know the world isn't 200 years old

It's a shame that this issue is politicized because it's interesting.
At this point the whole thing is about setting up a global taxing authority.
Nothing more, nothing less.
Even if man-made global warming or man made climate change were a thing there's not a damn thing we could do about it other than adapt.
The idea that some bureaucrats and politicians know how to "save the planet" with taxes is about the most ridiculous thing you will ever hear.
