Editors are to blame also, they write the headlines. Or they used too.

A great line from one of my favorite movies of all time:

“When the legend becomes fact…print the legend.”

Journalists have no place trading in rumors. True journalism is dead.

THIS is how you do that and we need more of it.

There are even worse examples - and the last 15 years has been thoroughly saturated with false ‘news’ reports.

Honestly? I think it’s possible they both did.

The big question is if Jimmy Stewart actually hit anything when he fired.

Back in the day, journalists had a saying: "If your mother says she loves you, check it out".
Now, they take the press release and print it verbatim.

Deflect, deflect, deflect ad nauseam.

The key is to not move on until they actually answer the question. I don’t care how long it takes.

Acceptance of that position shows a remarkable level of trust in government, which I do not share.

Well, that 'rumor' better be well sourced, not anonymous, with some supporting evidence, and have a reasonable possibility of being true.

I agree, we can't 'trust' a denial from anyone w/o backup. But we also should not give the time of day to anonymous 'rumors'.

Then relegate it to the 'fact check' section. Not part of the 'news'.

Doug Collins: "I want to work with you"
'Journalist': "I'm working on it".

WTH? I'm working on it?
No you're not, you keep publishing un-sourced, un-investigated, rumors. How much 'work' does it take to stop doing that - just stop!

Everytime I read one of your posts I think to myself, "he surely can't say anything more retarded than that."

Then you go and make another post.

That's how to take a devious reporter to task.
Find a way to get them and you in front of a live TV camera, then reach in your pocket and pull out your "problem" with them, and explain it from the beginning!...bingo!
