Just saying! They don’t have the worlds biggest arsenal of tactical nukes for shits n giggles. After this ridiculous aid package passed decision makers in the Kremlin are most likely mulling knocking out the re-supply convoys that will be heading east soon.

"they" will say it was a Russian tactical nuke...
Is using a tactical nuke on your own soil to repel an overwhelming offensive attack considered fair play?
Consider the shoe on the other foot before judgement.

So are they going to nuke the country that can nuke them back or nuke the country whose territory they want? Neither makes sense.

Ehhh, I don't even think Putin is that dumb, blind, or unhinged. He knows the moment he brings nuclear weapons in any form to the battlefield, the entire world is against him. He has waning favor with many factions and several other nations right now, he'd lose it in a heartbeat if nukes were brought out for the first time in 80 years.

I just don't see it happening for political reasons above all. Right now he can claim he's fighting a just war to free slavs that want to be Russian, de-nazifying Ukraine, and keeping NATO off his borders. It certainly seems like he's winning this confrontation handily and has the upper hand.

Start dropping nukes - even tactical - the whole world suddenly shifts against Russia and most likely WWII kicks off.

If they are like the man packed or satchel nukes the US ditched years ago, for a high value hardened target - I could see this. Big difference between a tactical and strategic nuke.

Well it was just reported Ukraine is now using long range US supplied ballistic missiles. I am not saying Russia will use a nuke, but it will be very tempting for them now to turn up the volume with Ukraine. You can't blame them.

I doubt it.

Russia has what they want. They have eastern Ukrainian energy and commodity supply lines to the West despite NATO sanctions. They are just going to continue to maintain those supply lines maybe with small military skirmishes here and there.

It wouldn't shock me at all to see Volgin use a tactical nuke in Tselenoyarsk then have Putin demand that Biden send an operative to kill The Boss.

The big game changer here is that the latest supplement bill includes ATCAMS with approximately 300km range..,

That in effect extends the active range of Ukrainian targets an additional 100km. That is a lot of bridges, airfields, rail yards, and staging areas that are now legit targets.

What makes this whole invasion so strange is that Russia has a very limited rail network leading up to Ukraine, with some serious bottle necks in Russia proper. With an added 100km of effective range, the Ukrainians cam finally hit logistic hubs that will do more than just marginally disrupt the flow of troops, equipment and supplies.

The Kerch bridge is done. To many ways to now overwhelm the current anti air and maritime nets to accept that nothing will get through. Same with multiple rail yards both Rostovodon and Belgorod. Multiple airfields around Sevastopol are now under the umbrella of multiple weapons systems that can’t cope with additional incoming ordnance. My guess is you will see a shift to overwhelm the air defense systems and systemically wipe out many of the air defenses and short range fighter/fighter bomber to allow other cheaper and more plentiful systems be used to continue to clear the peninsula.

The real question is what does that extra 100km do if and when Ukraine gets F15s? If you have rolled back the air defenses by an additional 100kms what does that do to the operational range of Russian air defenses over the front?

The addition of longer range missile systems is a much bigger deal than most of the other adds (beyond the artillery shells) and is the one real “new” change in the operational capabilities of Ukraine…

Sure I can. Putin invaded. Putin killed and is still killing thousands of civilians. Putin has been kidnapping Ukrainian children.

I agree there is a non-zero chance Putin, out of frustration, will use nukes. He would be very unwise to do so. I trust the US military to be in control of all American nuclear weapons with many layers of safeguards. I don't trust the former Soviets or the current Russians the same way. They might have cabals of diehard reds itching to go all the way.

Sure you can. The Ukrainians are firing missles FROM Ukraine TO Ukraine. They're not firing them into Russia.

Stupid analysis. Sorry. I cannot say it more eloquently than that.
