Progressives will always push forward, conservatives will always try to hold the line where it is. The line will always shift because it always has and always will. You can throw around the Overton Window just like people trot out Occam's Razor. People love throwing them both around. but societies views will always shift. What was conservative and acceptable to society 100 years ago is unthinkable today. societies change and they either improve or devolve, the end result is always the same, they fall and their replaced.

I detest all this lionization of a mental dysphoria with a passion. These people need to be cared for and not exalted. As long as they can live their lives without getting in everyones' face and demanding 'recognition and respect and authority" I'm OK with it. I'd never support a mission to physically eliminate them, nor to seek them out for public harassment.
BUT - If one of them should run for political office on the basis of real issues, and not make their dysphoria the key to their candidacy, I am happy to weigh their competence and agenda along with other candidates.
I would definite NOT vote for a worse person on issues just to suppress another person's non-threatening lifestyle.
Binary choices are seldom perfect in all regards.
That means we have to choose better candidates in the primary stage to combat whomever the harmful agenda of the other side puts forth.
