Does anybody believe progressives when they say they are for "Common Sense Gun Control"?

I honestly don't believe it for one second that their end goal is he elimination of guns from the hands of all private citizens. They intend to ban, what they term assault weapons. When that doesn't work (and it won't), they will come back and tell us why that didn't work and strengthen the ban to include more and more guns, until all guns are banned.
If this is not true, I would like to hear from progressives what they consider to be "common sense" gun control measures and what they would be happy with as a permanent solution - not a first step.

Need to limit guns mental issues but not sure how
Limits on numbers and types of guns. No gun purchase under 18 at all. No bringing guns across state lines when one state says no.

I would like to hear from Progressives on this board about what they consider to be common sense gun control, which is the catch phrase everyone is using, and yet, nobody defines it.

Therein lies the issue. Many people want some thing banned, but they cannot define the thing. That doesn't seem crazy to you?
The reason some of us think it is crazy is because the firearms commonly called 'Assault weapons' in the media and in conversations like this aren't really different from many, if not most, 'regular' firearms except in cosmetic ways.

I contend that using "progressive" and "common sense" in the same sentence is oxymoronic.

Yes I do, the issue is common sense gun control is a phrase with no meaning and no perameters. It can essentially mean anything they want it to
To many of them, common sense gun control icludes bans
It is essentially a term that they used to appeal to the masses because it sounds nice but means nothing

No. Because every time, without fail, after a little bit of prodding, every single person who I have spoken to touting the “common sense” label and saying “no one is coming for your guns” admits, generally only about 5-10 minutes later, that they want to confiscate all guns. Every time, without fail, 100% of the time, they want to take our guns, but know that saying that isn’t going to get them there, so they use these bullshite proposals to inch closer in that direction.
