re: Do you think George Floyd would have died that day if he wasn’t being arrested?

Im sorry but under the law this is not what the jury found. They found it was intentional and the primary cause of his death. Trump is discussing pardoning him, but that would only affect the federal charges. He is still facing time under state charges I believe.
Dude, 20% black city.
Jury was 6 black 6 white.

unintentional second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter.
So 1. You are wrong
2. That trial was garbage and a lynching.

but his encounter with the cops put a lot of stress on his body and that was the proximate cause of his death.
This is a nonsense statement.

I suspect the OD was done to hide the drugs once the police rolled up.

who cares. he was fricked up, breaking the law, and resisting arrest. he brought it on himself and the cop should be released from jail. its a travesty he went to jail.

I dont really care about george floyd

Probably not, but it was still 100% on him. Chauvin is a douche, but that was still a routine neck restraint. Normal people wouldn’t have died because of that. He didn’t die of asphyxiation.
He’s just a loser junkie who could handle a lot of fentanyl, but he couldn’t handle both: a panic attack (cardiopulmonary arrest) from a neck restraint and a dose of fentanyl at the same time.

Was there enough in his system to kill him already? Docs say yes, but who knows what would have happened? Would he have eaten a whole damn bag of that stuff had police not approached? Probably not. You can’t blame the cops for doing their jobs. And now we know they were operating by the book.
I don’t personally believe the knee did anything though. It’s pretty clear he was already at a severely heightened state of panic and was struggling to catch his breath prior to that.

Yes…every person is appointed to die and to face judgement. That was his day to die.

I think you're an idiot.

It was not a nonsense statement. There is value in analyzing the actions of law enforcement from the perspective I used in my post. Were the people involved in a law enforcement encounter better or worse off for it? Not "did they deserve what they got?"- that's important, but it's not the only question to be asked. If law enforcement tends to turn things they become involved with into shite, we should consider making changes.

You clearly don’t know shite about law enforcement. They routinely enter situations that are EXTREMELY dangerous and filled with unknowns. They have rules and protocols that they follow for these reasons. It’s easy to
Monday morning quarterback these encounters, but knowing what they knew in real time, surrounded by the public and dealing with a known violent felon, they handled the situate the best they could.
No one wants to talk about the 150ish officers killed in the line of duty every year. Use of force is in the job description. Don’t get fricking fatally high and try to fight 5 cops and you won’t have to worry about having your heart explode while they try to restrain you.

So does Black criminality.

Maybe they should do less of that. That was kind of my point.
Someone at a convenience store thought Floyd passed a bogus $20 bill. He was sitting peaceably in a car after that happened. Why was it so important to the cops to get him out of that car and into jail? Was that a decision that made the world a better place, or a worse place? Where has that gung-ho attitude been when I've reported theft of things worth far more than $20?

All arrests involving physical force “put a lot of stress on the body.” Especially the bodies of people on drugs who have a lot of adipose tissue in the midsection.
Encounters with law enforcement can be stressful for everyone.
Add in use of a lot of drugs.
Physical resisting of arrest.
And an out-of-shape criminal, and it’s a recipe for disaster.
That doesn’t means the cops should be evaluating the situation saying “hey this is probably really stressful for him, maybe we should let him go home.”

How many PSI were placed upon his neck?
