Hell I think 18 and a citizen let’s too many people vote.

Should be citizen, 18 and be able to pass a very basic test on government. Something simple like, name the 3 branches of the federal government.

Can’t do that, can’t vote.

Hell no. Raise the voting age to 30, require the voter to speak English as a first language, and collecting no public assistance. Don't need welfare queens, illegals, or new college or HS grads voting. Things would be much, much better then.

I think on a sports message board where there are many many high school grads who would never ever be accepted to LSU much less graduate from it, an education test would not work in their favor.

Unpopular opinion, but you should be a net taxpayer in a given jurisdiction to have a vote in that jurisdiction.

The devil is in the details. What is “work”? What is a “handout”. A farm owner who receives K-1 distributions from his business but is technically unemployed (i.e. doesn’t have an employer) and receives crop subsidies may not be eligible to vote.

Anyone that doesn't know the difference in a vote by mail and an absentee ballot should not be allowed to vote and certainly not more than once.

You should have to have served honorably in the military. If you are not willing to bleed and die for the country, you have no right to make decisions for the country.

Let’s go full Starship Troopers.

Minimum age should be at least 26 yrs old these days - and self sustaining economically.

I think the right to vote should be subjected to similar restrictions as other rights.

You can't exercise your 2nd amendment right if you are mentally unfit, for example.

There's a standard and a process for that. Probably should be similar for voting.

I care you stupid frick. I don’t want idiots who pay no property tax voting to increase mine.

Maybe the smart apartment and rental home owners should put flyers on the doors of renters telling them that their rent will be going up significantly if they vote for higher property taxes. Maybe that would end this madness.

Why should property owners get to decide who has the right to vote?

And define property owner.

I haven't take a dime from my family since I was 18. And I shouldn't be allowed to vote?

Yes, explain this to people who stayed on their parents insurance in college.

Are there really a lot of invalids without sound minds in nursing homes stockpiling AR's?

1) pass a law to stop it and I guarantee the NRA would fight it tooth and nail;

2) I could be wrong, but I don’t think they’re voting in super high numbers either, but the OP was concerned.

And if they are, they’re statistically voting for GOP candidates, so feel free to lead the charge to purge those voters

My point about 26A wasn't meant to be a Festivus Pole for issues with the Constitution, though I agree with you on 17A and I'll raise you the 16th.

I think we need to go back to land owners in a sense. At least people that contribute a net positive in taxes for each of the previous years since the last election period.

Edited to add: anyone who has or is serving in the military.

5 grand a year with increases for inflation buys a voting license.

People keep saying "net positive". Can anyone define that? Does it include your business (es)? What about any type of government-backed loan program?

Spoiler alert: It is a totally unworkable standard.

Oh.

An unconstitutional poll tax.

Now you're cooking with gas!

Who gives a shite about land?

What about intellectual property?

Does it have to be real estate only?
