In their mind, the government is the country, and the political establishment is the government. Thus, voters turning against the establishment, in their minds, are the voters being traitors to their government.

They don't see the voters who oppose them as loving their country. In the minds of the establishment, voters who are opposing them HATE their country, and are a bunch of traitors and insurrectionists who need to be punished.

Absolutely not. The people want more transparency, they want less money in politics, an end to wars abroad, they want less government control, and they want term limits. All of these things cut off the establishment's money supply. They exist by laundering taxpayer money through bogus grants, foreign aid, programs, and contracts into their pockets. Why would they give that up?

To the establishment who have a VERY different image of America, and profit off of its demise, the people who oppose them are nothing but a threat to their way of life.

The establishment aren't being told they can't build a home in a flood zone. The establishment aren't being subjected to rolling blackouts. The establishment can still afford to eat steak. The establishment still gets to drive gas-guzzling SUV's, have armed guards, and fly private jets. The establishment doesn't have to worry about being canceled or having their platforms demonetized. The establishment doesn't have to worry about criminal investigations, perjury, paying taxes, laws against insider trading, being accused of libel, slander, or plagerism, , etc. All of those are just for the little people.

Without the help of the media these people would not even exist.

Imagine thinking that calling for Democrats to vote for you in Wyoming of all places is going to put you over the top.

She should have conceded that shite before the voting even began.

So the answer is no. They don't realize it yet. They're delusional and relying too much on the media to continue to hold control over the mind of the voters. They don't realize everyone knows the media is just the propaganda arm of the establishment.

They'll know after mid terms.

There is no perceived downside to what they are doing now. No threat. They are in charge. We are the peons.

I don’t see the evidence for this, although I wish it were so. Trump ran twice and never got close to half the vote. It appears the democrats are about to get shellacked in the midterms, but I’ve been around long enough to realize this is just the result of weathervane voters upset about the recession/inflation.

exactly. It's why the Dims are losing ground to black (me included) and brown voters, but the GOPe are worse than Dims at learning the lessons of history and facts slapping them in the face.

Some maybe. For most I believe they think “These stupid peasants don’t understand we’re their rightful masters! We will have to double down on our efforts to make them understand. Such a pity.”
