I've noticed here that most of you seem to have a dislike for Jindal even though he was a GOP candidate.

What about other governors

Mike Foster or Dave Treen

I liked foster. I also liked jimdal early on. Later in his tenure though he checked out and started campaigning nationally instead of doing his damn job

They both did good things and they both fricked up some things...unlike Edwards, who has fricked up everything he has touched.

Mike Foster was the f&%king man! Best governor this state has ever had, though most of them have been pretty terrible. What Jindal did wasn't that bad, but the opportunities he wasted are criminal. His 8 years are like a drive with a couple first downs that ended with a punt but should have ended with a TD if not for basically lying down and giving up on what was working. Jindal gets flack because he was in the position to be the most transformative governor since Huey P. Long, but instead settled for the illusion of reform, kicking the fiscal can down the road, punting on most issues at the first sign of resistance, and ignoring priorities at home to chase a longshot bid at national office.

I liked Foster. I liked Jindal at first but his second term sucked donkey testicles. I don't remember anything about Treen, but did see him sometimes at the Rouses in Mandeville before he kicked it. I was too young to really care about Buddy when he was governor.

I saw Edwards once years ago between terms at the Winn-Dixie with wife number 2. He was wearing a forest green suit with a fedora. He defiantly looked like a

How about Buddy Roemer?

I think he maybe won as a Democrat and lost as a Republican?

Either way he sucks for bank rolling The Young Turks.

frick Bobby Jindal for pissing away all that political capital to really transform Louisiana for the better and get us caught up with the likes of Tennessee and Georgia.

That little piss ant abandoned Louisiana for a Presidential run that was dead in the water before it even started.

Absolutely unforgivable and easily the most disappointed in a politician I've ever been in my lifetime.

Foster was a fat, lazy slob. During a period of unprecedented growth in the US, Foster did very little to take advantage of it. He could've paid down Louisiana's debt with all the surpluses, instead he was buying shite like a syrup mill for his brother in law.

Foster may have been a Republican, but he was no conservative.

I liked Treen, and you forgot Roemer - he ran as a Dem, but changed in office to a Rep.

Jindal was a pencil necked geek. A grit eating freak. A scum sucking pea-head with a lousy physique. He was a no good, one man, losing streak. Nothing but a pencil necked geek.

Nope, just a long line of populists. That's what you get when you consistently have the worst education system in the country.

Agree. Though remember Stelly happened on his watch (though that was another good thing he did imho).

Heavily disagree. Jindal:
-Dismantled the charity hospital system. That right there should put him in the pantheon of great conservative governors.
-Moved medicaid from a pay-for-service into a managed care system. Very under rated. (Should have done nursing homes too.)
-Transformed K-12 educational system with increased charter schools (Blanco should get a lot of credit here too), vouchers, school ratings, tenure and promotion reform, etc.
-Cut the hell out of state employee numbers. Privatized a lot of state government.
And most of that was in the second term.

Yeah he did that too. It got real bad in the last two years of his tenure. I think a LOT of that is overstated because it gets conflated with the fall of the energy sector. People blame ALL of the fiscal problems JBE inherited on Jindal when he is probably only responsible for about 40%. Which isn't to say he didn't use too much one time money.

I like the fact that Roemer started polling 4%. He put together a good team and made it happen. I think BR was probably the smartest guv in the past 50 years.

Now, if there's any republican who deserves being absolutely shite on by fellow republicans, it's Buddy. What a joke.

I am non-aligned. Have been since I first registered in 1983.

I wouldn't join any party that would have me as a member. I guess that makes me a Groucho-Marxist.

Jindal's 2nd term was all about setting himself up for a presidential campaign. Any move he made (or didn't make) was in the interest of Bobby Jindal.

I was a little young to be worried politics back then. But I think Roemer only flipped to being a “Republican” was so he could make it to the general election since Edwards was getting out of jail and was going to run again.

Louisiana politics is messy.
