Notwithstanding that neither the United States Constitution nor the Voting Rights Act in no way, shape, or form guarantee representation in Congress based on race but actually expressly forbid it, the argument that African Americans (or any race) are entitled to representation in the house of representatives equal to the amount of a race in the population (e.g. in Louisiana - 33% African American population = 2 of the 6 house seats in LA) is a dangerous position.

The African American population in the US is 12-13%. Currently there are 62 African American members of the house which is 14.25 of the house seats. Thus, at present, African Americans are over-represented in the house based on the above argument. If the Callais case was wrongfully decided, should African Americans lose one to two seats in the house? Be careful what you ask for?

Off topic and definitely racist thought (apologies in advance), but, what if Martha’s Vineyard (2.64%, or 364 very wealthy and accomplished individuals) suddenly had to experience the reported 33% of blacks that Louisiana has. What if they had over 50% blacks , like Battin Rudge? And the vast majority of them represented an economic and social deficit? Were holding political office? Dictating the future of MV?

What would happen if we spread all the welfare trash (all ethnicities) out evenly across the country, according to your area’s ability to absorb the cost? How quickly would things change?

Hey now, you’re actually suggesting affluent white liberals be exposed to the results of their virtue?

You evil SOB!

Why is it Blacks are the only minority that special districts had to be carved out for? Hispanics and Asians don't count?

See Charlotte, NC
since the mayor that resigned was black, naming an interim that’s white is disgusting
It “belongs” to blacks

Similarly, if Hillary or Kamala had won their election it would be because of their high intellect and natural expertise in office
If they lose, it’s because of sexism and racism
And Russia of course

I've been saying that for years - Hispanics/Latinos make up 19% of the US population but you don't hear them screaming about carved out minority districts and you certainly won't hear the blacks arguing for carved out districts for Asians, Latinos/Hispanics, Indians, or any other racial minority group - blacks are the only minority group that constantly complain about everything -

How do you know that an African-American didn’t win a seat in a non-gerrymandered district? Maybe one of the AA’s was elected as the best choice in a non-black majority district?

I (and other members of my family) went to college in the North-East. There are no racists, like those who don't live in an diverse, integrated environment. They were always worse than my upbringing in the South.

No, the average black has no clue. They are just repeating what their handlers tell them.

The handlers and their white owners are just trying to save their own asses.

My buddy in the Boston area makes me laugh. He always talked about how the south is so racist until he came down to Alabama and took a wrong turn. He had never been in a ghetto or seen ghetto trashy people.

The only black he ever interacts with are educated professionals.

Honest answer? It’s because the country has lower expectations for blacks. Then you get easier qualifications, special exceptions, unwarranted praise, less accountability, etc .
It’s bigotry of low expectations but the side that wants to treat them as equals gets called racists.

With the way they talk you would think African Americans would be the majority. But they are on 12-13 percent. Why do we allow a minority to dictate everything
