that was already known for the war Iran could do that.
unless the US and Israel believed air strikes alone could knock out Iran's regime and capability to close down the strait, Iran doing so would increase energy prices, and put pressure on the United States to make a deal with Iran.. which they did.

It’s true. I followed oil very closely during all this as it affected the stock markets greatly almost on a day to day basis. Inventory all over the world was slowly being drained to cushion supply shocks from the disruption and it was about to be gone (tank bottoms). Then there would have been a spike to 150-200 bbl and it would have stayed there or gone higher until demand destruction balanced it out at who knows what price.
