Why is the Dominican Republic sort of OK, but Haiti has always been f@*(@$ up? Everyone is dark-ish, but Haiti believes in African Animism beliefs, and DR is mostly Christian. They're on the same Fing island, but there are decidedly different outcomes.

I disagree. I understand your point about multi-culturalism, but the lack of cultural diversity was our strength. The common thread was, "I'm going to make it." Italian, Irish, African, South American, that was the common thread. Whether you sold drugs, ran a deli, sewed clothes, the goal was always the same. Make it. That's a common thread.

German Americans originally had their own separate world, with German music, and German language newspapers. They were often quite insulated from mainline culture.

At the beginning of the 20th century though, there was a heavy handed effort by the descendants of the original colonial population to force them to assimilate. This intensified during the 1st World War, and there were even episodes of violence against German Americans, the German population often opposed the war. The end result though, when it was over, was that they stopped speaking German, and stopped seeing themselves as German. They were just Americans.

If this is going to work, you have to annihilate peoples preexisting ethno religious identity.

Diversity is just the Neo-Marxist's code word for "anything but white men".

I'm not shitting on you, but Germans had a huge influence on Mexican beer, and hill country beer (Shiner Bock.) They seemed to integrate into Texan/Mexican culture with kolaches (although every culture I've ever seen has meat in dough, because it's great.)

Can you give us some links for German/Slavic abuse in the USA that go beyond the camps that FDR relocated Japanese to?

Your last statement does raise interesting questions though. if you think of 1955 (randomly picked,) we had plenty of every religion and ethnicity coming in (Orthodox, Jews, Christians, etc.) and everyone just wanted a job, a car, and a refrigerator.
