Whats the breaking point when more people work for the government than the private sector.

quote:

Dems propose 8.7% pay raise for federal workers to make up for COVID, Trump

Federal workers are the government's 'greatest asset,' the Democratic sponsor of the bill claimed

quote:

Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-Va., who sponsored the bill. "They were subjected to the Trump Administration’s cruel personal attacks, unsafe work environments, pay freezes, government shutdowns, sequestration cuts, furloughs, and mindless across-the-board hiring freezes."

fricking clown world

I would be all for a 25% fed employee raise across the board.

IF- total workforce was cut by 65%

Government shutdowns? You mean when they were still paid for not having to go to work? Oh the horror.

I changed my location to district 11 because the parallels between our fedgov and Hunger Games is striking. There is literally the Fed and Capitol and everything else.

Wow. I would love a 9% raise. Since most everything I buy is between 50-125% more expensive than three years ago and my raise last year was 2.5%, it makes me feel good knowing federal workers will get their fair share.

Of course, not mentioned in the bill or by its sponsor, members of Congress are all Federal employees. Members of the DOJ. The FBI. CDC. And, as noted, the incredibly efficient & over worked, U.S. Post Office employees.

This is an example of why Democrats always get the upper hand on Republicans in elections. It's because the Democrats always take the lead an play the parent that spoils the kids and force the other parent to be the bad one who always says no.

Like student loans and the illegal migration, this is just another bill a Democrat puts out there to force the Republicans to say no. They do not want to pass the raise they just want to use it as noise and to continue to have govt employees in their pockets.

On 5henloan bailout, they know it is an illegal act but they put it out there to make them look like they are the willing people and it the Republicans or SCOTUS that are heartless to you.

Immigration, Democrats have had at least 6 six years of rule to push amnesty through and in those 6 years they never bring it up. They only bring it up when they can blames republicans for not being open to it.

I think the size of the federal government could be reduced by no less than 30% and the impact to the American people would be negligible. If most of the nation's political power was returned to the state level taxpayers would save hundreds of billions dollars while strangling the the life out of the Bureaucratic State.

Totally okay with pay hikes…if we can cut the workforce in half.

Year | Pay raise

2011 0%
2012 0%
2013 0%
2014 1%
2015 1%
2016 1%
2017 1%
2018 1.4%
2019 1.4%
2020 2.6%
2021 1%
2022 2.1%
2023 4.1%

Every single year, someone in congress has stood up in January and proposed a monumental pay increase for federal workers the next year.

It has never happened. Neither will this one.
