I used to work for a small state agency that received funding and “guidance” from a large federal agency. Not only did we do the real work while they masturbated in useless memos, they made over 2X as much and worked out of this monstrosity of a castle in Atlanta that was truly remarkable. The federal govt has too much money, and given deficit spending, isn’t even bound to that money. The things they spend millions on are often ludicrous beyond belief.

I must have missed those speeches. Can anyone help me out? Did he call postal workers fat and ugly?

He called them America's greatest domestic terrorist threat. He said they were going to cause a winter of death to everyone.

No, wait, that's what Biden called everyone that didn't vote for him.

25% is way too low.

Why didn’t they do this when they controlled everything?

I would love a 9% raise if my company lost trillions of dollars every year but rather I would be seeing a pink slip instead.

I would say fine. But I want a 5% reduction in work force each year for 10 years (exclude military). Reverse the IRS hires.

I would be all for a 25% fed employee raise across the board. IF- total workforce was cut by 65%

Back when I was working at the VHA there were only two people that did what I did in the entire system, Geospatial Analyst. My coworker left for another position so I ended up doing his job and mine for almost three years (The damn union made it impossible to get the right candidates in). I was able to do the job easily and do so without working that hard so I lobbied to consolidate the two positions, bump my GS level up to a GS 14 from 13. Paying one GS 14 rather than two 13s would have been far cheaper but they instead stayed with the two positions. After three years they finally hired another person who was the poster child for what people think of when they think of federal employees. Couldn’t stand the guy and the boss wasn’t strong enough to get him to do anything. Didn’t take long for me to get fed up and quit

oh cool. Well my company is under a corporate-wide hiring/promoting freeze because of recession fears.....and this happening the same month I was supposed to get a massive promotion and raise so go frick yourself.

This is more of a political strategy.

They have no intention of seeing this through. It’s for the purpose of causing Republicans to predictably vote against it. This will lead to Democrats using Republican opposition for fundraising in their campaigns against them.

Most federal workers will vote based on this.

I think if you said most federal workers in the DC area would vote based on that, you’d be correct but the federal workforce is very different the further you get from DC

I could really use a 9% raise. As a engineer in the federal government we are are severely underpaid. I really like my job but it's tough to stay knowing how much of a pay difference there is.

Kind of the same boat, I know as a geospatial analyst that I could make more in the private sector but I did just enough time in the military that I’d be stupid not to meet the years in the fed to get my retirement . That said, I make more than enough to live well in Missouri
