Interest rate hike incoming?

quote:

The price of diesel fuel hit a record Friday as the wars in Ukraine and Iran knock out refineries, triggering a global supply crunch.

Truckers in the U.S. are paying an average of $5.85 a gallon nationwide, a nearly 60% increase over the same period last year when diesel cost $3.71 a gallon. In California, diesel costs $7.70 per gallon, almost $2 a gallon more than the national average.

Diesel prices feed directly into higher inflation, said John Kilduff, partner at Again Capital. “You can do all the virtual shopping you want, it’s all going to come to your house on a truck that ran on diesel fuel so there’s no way around it,” Kilduff told CNBC’s “Morning Call.”

Diesel is the fuel that is the most embedded in the economy, more than so than gasoline prices, said Bob McNally, founder of Rapidan Energy. Diesel is used “in transportation, it’s in heating fuel, it’s in agriculture, it’s in industrial uses,” McNally told CNBC’s “Squawk on the Street” on August 17.

“It is the important macro fuel to watch,” McNally said.

It’s interesting how this is mainly due to Ukraine striking Russia (diesel doesn’t flow in large numbers through Hormuz).

Wonder if we can ask Zelenskyy to stop striking Russian refineries

Self inflicted. Imagine where the market, inflation, rates would be with the economic framework Trump put in place for the first year of his presidency.

Those numbers are often phony.

Bessent blamed Z the other day.
quote:

“We are going through an energy shock right now, due to both the war in Ukraine, because Ukraine has decided that they want to blow up Russian energy assets and refined products — so that is creating upward price pressure on a global basis — and then the conflict in Iran,” Bessent said on Fox News on Wednesday.

I also just read an analysis that some of this is likely due to product being directed to the military machine.

Lol. Why won’t they blame Putin for starting this war that caused Ukraine to start striking into Russia?

This needs to be explained to everyone not just the progs. The price of diesel affects the price of everything.

My decision to buy a diesel a couple of years ago had consequences.

But, those mountain passes don’t stand a chance so all good.

We’re exporting 2 million barrels per day. Per day! I reckon this is causing a domestic supply problem.
