I may be wrong on the timing, but I seem to remember that after field agents wanted to close the case, there was an Oval Office meeting soon after that. At that point, either Obama or Biden gave the Code Red.
One thing I never really understood is the unmasking of calls. What allows that? I know Biden was on those lists of unmasking Flynn. Can every government official just go and read transcripts of every American who is recorded talking to a foreigner? Also, I seem to remember Bongino saying some key transcripts must have come from foreign governments because there is no warrant, FISA warrant, or any unmasking.

Joe couldn't orchestrate a toddler's tea party, then or now. Maybe you're remembering that he was the one who gave the green light, and that I wouldn't doubt. IF anything ever happened he'd be the firewall and the Halfrican would be protected with "plausible" deniability.
Comey orchestrated it. The only instruction he got from the WH was probably along the lines of "figure out a way to entrap Flynn".

While not the campaigner that Obama or even Trump is, he is very cold and calculating. He knows the game of pitch better than anyone else there. He's been immersed in DC for 50 fricking years . If Fauci claims to be science, Biden is the personification of DC.
So many Republicans called Obama stupid and he ran rings around us. Biden is doing much the same except in a colder
fashion. The problem for our side is that we hate the one guy who can match him .

I am confident it was not his initiative - I doubt he even knew about it. It surely arose within the depths of the FBI where a lot of 'creative lawyers' find ways to apply obscure twists. Someone not in the meeting slipped him the note.

Comey did. He literally said to send in two FBI agents to ask him questions at the beginning of the administration while the green Trump admin was new. They knew the Trump admin was an easy target and they went in for the entrapment.

Biden is one of the most corrupt and power drunk politicians in DC. It takes real hudspah to threaten blatant blackmail against Ukraine if they don’t abandon prosecution of his crackhead Son and do it on international tv. And throw in the “you can call Barack if you don’t believe me” kicker. There is no mystery as to why this Nation is on the cusps of violent rebellion as Biden double down on sting arm tactics and with the support of the Deep State bureaucracy, MSM, Academia, the Greens, Welfare demographic and a lot of RINOS. No way this holds for much longer. Only one side can prevail in this scenario.
