Probably not possible on legal grounds, but it is good optics. Americans oppose sanctuary cities by more than a 2:1 margin.

Does this set precedent for Jefferson Sessions to arrest leaders of weed states?

Told you Nielsen was a tough cookie. They just need to go through with it and make it stick. The Obama lawless hangover is still lingering. Clean it up!!

They should be able to. Why should every average Joe have to obey the laws ,but government officials can be openly defiant? I highly doubt that there would be any arrests and the article states making inquiries as to what can be done where your title is misleading.

National Guard time. You defy the feds, lose the fed money. Still defy, bring in Nat'l guard and arrest the ones responsible for obstruction of justice. One or 5 states should not be able to determine nat'l security outlook for the entire country.

Because enforcing the nations immigration laws is a job for the federal government. Having the feds try to force local governments to enforce immigration laws is an unfunded mandate from the feds, passing the buck to local government. Local government has its hands full with local criminals and doesn't have the time or resources to be a co-opted federal immigration force.

Also the feds have well established that local government cannot set its own immigrant policies because they are preempted by federal law and policy.

It's different jurisdictions. That's why.

Didn't Arpaio get arrested for ignoring an order to not enforce the law in his state?

So you are an advocate of arresting any local elected official who does do whatever the hell Trump says? I may be a twat but you are dangerous.

Actually yes.

If a gang commits an armed robbery and I let them hide at my house until the coast is clear, I can be charged with harboring criminals.

These city leaders are doing the same thing.

So for the record, you're against unfunded mandates based on this statement correct?
