We’re turning into Italy. I’d say 90% of progressives love that idea

You can call it a handout. My feelings won’t be hurt. I’m still going to view it as a return on my investment. I don’t consider my tax refund a handout either.

well, it is in every way. We don't get back any return on investment. We're paying for the privilege of supporting poor people.

I don't blame people that qualify and get help. The system is beyond broken though.

You are assorted body parts in a freezer crazy if you think the USA is on the right track.

I agree with this. After a period of time ppl that are getting welfare and food stamps should have to work part time doing community service even if it is picking up garbage on the side of the highway.

All that means is you are more stupid than the majority of voting age people in Louisiana, one of the least educated states in the country.

In the last 6 months, my homeowners insurance DOUBLED and daycare increased by $100/month. So our mortgage is $200/month more now, daycare is $100 more a month, Entergy is doubling our bills despite no increase in usage, eggs are $7/dozen, etc etc.

It doesn't sound like America's on the right track.

The American Dream is about having the opportunity to work for success in a society that shares a common set of beliefs and values. We're off the rails.

Correct.

It's lovely watching the retards who didn't vote for Trump whine about their cost of living.

I just tell them "learn to code, BITCH!'

No true conservative fallacy.

No one's a conservative when they exhibit wrong think.

Mitt Romney was your fricking nominee just a decade ago.

Homeowners insurance wouldn’t have increased if Trump won? How do you figure?

At least give the author and source

David Brooks
Atlantic

PS
In case you forgot who David Brooks is:

quote:

This writing (is) so hilariously dreadful that we should rejoice in (David) Brooks' having left the conservative reservation after being dazzled by Obama's covered thighs in 2005 "...and I was looking at his pant leg and his perfectly creased pant, and I'm thinking, a) he's going to be president and b) he'll be a very good president."

From American Thinker

It's cute watching people like you pick and choose. But looking back over the thread I guess I need to congratulate people like you. You just finished bitching about eggs, child care, gas and other living expenses.

Now, it's only homeowner's insurance?

This is why the country is fricked.

But then again, we aren't in Kansas anymore.

That's because you're an idiot who didn't remember how positive this board was when Trump was in office.

Lots of football spiking and end zone dancing.

Republican =/= conservative.

McCain and Romney being tapped to run against Obama showed the globalists have their hooks deep in both parties.

David Brooks is a faux-conservative version of Thomas Friedman.

I don’t need to check out a blind link to know he’s blathering some milk-toast bs that is 97.3% absolutely wrong…

Inflation can be blamed on the other increases. Or are you annoyed that I understand that? Sorry? Why must you be so nasty in your responses? I’ve never seen a group of middle aged and old men so angry and rude in my life. All the elderly men I encounter in actual life don’t have the chips on their shoulders y’all do. This board needs a lot of therapy.
