Every person you listed is either an extreme Trump loyalist or caters almost entirely to a Trump loyalist audience
Yawn - I've watched you spew venom at anyone who wasn't the loyalist you are for 6 years now. Spare me the neutral political analysis or at least redirect it to someone who doesn't know where you stand.
Here's what's happening:
- Your idol has been childishly going after a more conservative figure in DeSantis for weeks, and DeSantis has largely ignored him, which frustrated the hell out of your candidate
- Considering DeSantis is probably going to announce within 30-60 days, he takes a mild shot at Trump while also condemning what Trump is going through. It perfectly highlights the difference between DeSantis and Trump, as a) DeSantis doesn't have sordid histories with porn stars and the like, and b) DeSantis can make a mild shot and move on to substance, something Trump cannot do.
- But no amount of criticism of the leader is acceptable to you all, so we get these histrionics. The word goes out from whoever it is you listen to (probably some of those Twitter accounts) that the knives are out for DeSantis and it's time to portray his defense of Trump into a mortal unforgivable sin.
- You, as a loyal soldier, do just that. And then you come in here with "If he's going to win he has to figure out a way of keeping Trump's base" while you're intentionally following orders to start sabotaging the primary to make sure all of you will take your ball and go home if Trump loses.
In short, the people preaching that DeSantis made a mistake are the same ones who will ensure that the "mistake" has the ramification predicted. Trump's base = you. "Figure out a way" = Do what Trump's base says, which is not run. It's an impossibility to do what you're demanding.
Anyway, I have no doubt you can and will destroy the chance for a conservative to win the general if your guy doesn't win. But you're not winning any accolades from me for stating the obvious while pretending you're not one of the people intent on burning it all down if "it's his turn!" doesn't pan out.

He's not my idol. That's just how you rationalize it because you are a very simple thinker. But, you are right that Trump has gone after Desantis. Desantis, up until yesterday was smart not to engage...but the polls have forced his hand.

It was a huge mistake. He missed the mark on a red line subject. And, he's getting killed on it everywhere. It's not only my opinion. And, it's majorly impacting Trump's base as it relates to Desantis. These are the people he will need to vote for him, if he's going to win. I think this is self evident.

Untrue. Trump isn't perfect. I think he's made many mistakes and have said so many times. But, again, despite your inability to comprehend. I'm not saying Desantis can't win or that he's the enemy. I"m simply saying that he made a very bad decision and it's hurting him. The irony of you suggesting that I'm the one that can't accept criticism of his candidate is thick.

"Never Trump" is a thing. Your projection (not surprisingly) is very similar to a Democrats.
Still, If the election were today, I'd vote for Desantis. But, I can tell you he better change course. If he can't realize that defending Republicans against a weaponized government is more important than winning political points he's not going to get my vote.

The interview hasn't even aired yet, right? What we have are a few (pretty tame) cherry picked quotes in an article with a sensationalized headline promoting the interview. I don't understand how you can think that and believe Desantis could win.
I think his best chance would have been to be above the Trump criticism...actually make it sound like he supports Trump's policies, etc...but make the case that Trump simply can't win but he can.
Then, if Trump implodes (always a possibility), he's sitting there ready to accept the support of Trump's base.
Instead, he decided to attack Trump while the Democrats attempt to arrest him. And, he's pretty clearly getting guided and coached by some people Trump's base hates.
