A good start.
If he were smart he would hammer the fact that they disproportionately audit black people.

I don’t think you know what deflection means.

National sales tax makes EVERYONE pay. EVERYONE has skin in the game.
And you need to consider that 46% of people don't pay anything now. How happy do you think those people will be when they start paying taxes?

Sounds good. Doesn’t work. It’s red meat lip service on the campaign trail and nothing more.
Ron knows good and damn well should he get elected he’s not gonna make this happen and the best he could hope for is a half hearted attempt that gets blocked by the Dems or a couple of outgoing Republicans willing to do him a solid and fall on the sword so DeSantis could say “Hey I tried, but X stopped me so now I’m looking into the legalities of doing it through Executive Order.”, and nothing comes of it.

You guys don't seem to understand how complex the US Tax system is these days. We cannot just eliminate the IRS.
I subscribe to an online publication that writes about US Tax policy.
Please tell me, how, realistically, you will get around these issues which are currently law(s) and how you will get these things done without an IRS.
In Notice 2014-21, the IRS announced its position that cryptocurrencies constitute property for tax purposes, rather than foreign currency, and observed that while cryptocurrency may operate like “real” currency in some environments, it “does not have legal tender status in any jurisdiction.” El Salvador’s adoption of Bitcoin as legal tender in 2021 made that statement factually incorrect and led some taxpayers to question whether Bitcoin might now qualify as currency for tax purposes. Notice 2023-34 answers that question in the negative and clarifies that the IRS views cryptocurrency as property (rather than currency) even when another jurisdiction has adopted it as legal tender.
May 15, 2023: The IRS released Notice 2023-40, which provides the corporate bond monthly yield curve and corresponding spot segment rates and the 24-month average segment rates for May 2023. This notice also provides guidance as to interest rates on 30-year Treasury securities and 30-year Treasury weighted average rates.
May 15, 2023: The IRS released Revenue Ruling 2023-10, providing the applicable federal rates for federal income tax purposes for June 2023. The short-term federal interest rate is 4.43%, the mid-term rate will drop to 3.56% and the long-term rate is 3.79%.
May 16, 2023: The IRS released Tax Tip 2023-68, reminding taxpayers that installing solar panels or making other home improvements may qualify them for the home energy credit.
May 16, 2023: The IRS released Revenue Procedure 2023-23, which provides the 2024 inflation-adjusted amounts for Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) as determined under Section 223 and the maximum amount that may be made newly available for excepted benefit health reimbursement arrangements (HRAs) provided under Section 54.9831-1(c)(3)(viii) of the Pension Excise Tax Regulations.
May 16, 2023: The IRS announced the release of the IRS’s report from Commissioner Werfel evaluating the feasibility of providing taxpayers with a free Direct File option. The evaluation of the system focused on three areas: taxpayer opinions, cost and feasibility. The report also includes an analysis conducted by an independent third party. The IRS plans to pilot the project for the 2024 filing season.
If your charity engages in lobbying, it’s likely you are aware of federal, state, and local rules governing lobbying limits, registration, and reporting on activities and expenditures. Under the Internal Revenue Code (IRC), 501(c)(3) public charities are limited in how much they can lobby, yet they are not limited when it comes to activities considered to be advocacy. If it is in furtherance of their charitable purposes, public charities are unlimited in their advocacy activities.
Domestic Content Requirements The IRA provides a Bonus Credit of 10% for qualifying projects that meet the domestic content requirements. Steel or Iron Requirement – 100% of any steel or iron that is a component of the facility must be “produced in the United States.” Manufactured Products Requirement – a certain percentage of the total cost of the “manufactured products” that are components of the facility must be “mined, produced, or manufactured in the United States.”
The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) (Pub. L. 117-169) was signed into law on August 16, 2022. The IRA includes significant tax provisions, as well as nearly US$370 billion in federal funding for clean energy and environmental projects in the form of competitive grants, cooperative agreements, and loan programs. Notably, the IRA provides for a new Hydrogen Production Tax Credit and incentives for hydrogen vehicle production and adoption. The credit builds upon previous investments in clean hydrogen in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), including funding for Hydrogen Hubs.

We need to move to a more simplified tax code that also reduces the size and scope of the IRS. What that looks like can be debated. DeSantis is starting the debate.

This is no different than a Democrat promising reparations, it’s just a fairytale that gets the base excited.
If we were serious as a nation we would demand realistic proposals and plans that reflect the current political realities. The best you could hope for is eliminating some loopholes and lowering rates, and that’s a lofty goal to get passed the Senate currently.
The most realistic ambitious goal you could promise is to use the Presidency as a pulpit to further the idea of the Fair Tax plan, while tempering any expectations that it would actually happen in your term.

So like 99% of what Trump said in 2016 ?

But when he couldn't get his policies passed, it was "The Deep State" and he gets credit for them anyway
