Slavery benefited every black person in the USA. If it weren't for slavery, they'd be in Africa

Life in the USA as a slave was, on average, significantly better than what their lives would have been (assuming they were still alive) in Africa.
Sure. None of that matters.
You gotta figure out how to sidestep bullshite like this because these cretins will hammer you nonstop until you do.

Then we should have a fricking thread on that.
My thoughts on handling this tricky minefield of a subject that the media routinely throws at Republicans include:
- first, in no manner whatsoever try to convince anyone that blacks benefited from slavery in any way, such as learning a labor skill;
- second, utilize context and reemphasis; answer the targeted question by reframing it in a way that shows how black Americans utilized skills to provide for themselves and combine that with furtherances in education and opportunities that were made possible by America and Americans. Tie in all the sacrifices that were made by ALL Americans to make this a reality. It will require tact and skill but the notion that slavery somehow had its benefits for black people should be shifted to an emphasis on bootstrapping and the innate goodness and work of America to make more opportunity for everyone a reality.

Unfortunately, this is how it ends up.
It was done to Trump, it will be done to DeSantis, and it will be done to the next Republican that comes along after them.
You’re right, and the difference will be on how he responds.
Trump can’t handle BS like this.
DeSantis can.

I am not trying to help them at all lol
Sure you are, you are joining in to try to say this is a negative for DeSantis but in reality he isn't afraid to fight. Why? He can actually communicate. He knows what he is talking about and this entire story isn't his, it is from a group of all Black scholars who wrote the text. He is good enough at communicating to explain that and turn the tables on leftist idiots by pointing out that they (will be even better if it is a White reporter asking him btw) are not denouncing him but they are denouncing a group of Black scholars. This is about a positive message for Black kids and to talk about the strength and resiliency of those who went through the horrors of slavery.
Either we fight for the truth or we submit. One of the things I love about DeSantis is he has the attitude that when you are being attacked it usually means you are over the target. If they are going after DeSantis they know he is getting stronger and they want to tear him down. If they are attacking him on an issue like this he knows they are afraid that more and more Black people will discover the truth.
The thing is DeSantis DGAF in the end, he is a principled conservative. If he loses by speaking the truth so be it, he would rather lose than compromise the truth and his principles. Trump will do and say anything to get a vote, that's the definition of a populist.

Do we have ANYTHING else from this press conference /Q and A session?
Literally all we have is a hit piece article by the leftist of left media in this thread.

That's because you are used to losing.
DeSantis is backing people like Thomas Sowell, Clarence Thomas, Walter Williams, and a host of other conservative Blacks who have been wanting to fight this battle for decades. Folks like you can't wait to submit once again and give ground.

You really believe trying to get into an intellectual argument on an emotionally charged issue like this will win voters over to your side?
The question is whether it was politically-astute to SAY it. It was not.

Your guy is going to lose if he follows your slavery had its good points strategy.
But like you said, so be it.

This isn't the own you think it is. If you think that most people want someone that is afraid Joy Reid and Whoopi Goldberg to say bad things about them you are wrong. They want someone willing to stand up for the truth and force them to defend their positions that are built on sand. DeSantis isn't intimidated by bullies.

This is a losing argument.
You can be the most well-taken care of slave on the planet but you're still just that - a slave. You have no agency over your life.

1) Of course they benefitted
2) they are, in general, of lower IQ than other races
Neither of these truths help win elections

Current black America would be the wealthiest black nation.
While slavery sucked big donkey balls, the current descendants benefitted from the relocation..

I am a Trump supporter. Slavery was awful for slaves. I do not support former or current slavery in any way, shape, or form.
For black Americans with bloodlines indigenous to Sub Saharan Africa, DeSantis is 100% correct.

By the time it’s over the media will make DeSantis the most dangerous white supremacist in US history.
Yep...throw this in with the LGB*^&^ moves and the MSM propagandists will label him as a bigger bigot than Trump. If he were to assume the R Nominee status.
Regardless, Ron speaks truth and this keeps him in my honest man category. It's a shame the Never Trumpers got to him, but if/when they take Trump out, and DeSantis goes hard against that, he's got my vote. Albeit the Deep State will either coopt or deep-six him if he makes it to the Oval Office.
