I'm with this so-called "MAGA contingent" and will support DeSantis in '28
Why would he put himself through this again? It wasnt the Democrats that attacked him simply over loyalty.

This is very ironic given that mantra of MAGA, which is "eff your feelings." For 8 years, all we have heard about Trump is that you may not like him or his personality, but he will enact policies which are America first.
You're correct in that RD may never be POTUS, but which is it? Policy or personality?

He doesn't entertain them
They care more about that than policy

It hurt him, as well as anyone who isn't Trump himself, with the Patriot crowd.

I can’t speak to his inner motivations but I would suppose because he’s a big boy and still ambitious for politics.
He tried to knock off the king before the king wanted to leave and got smacked down. I think it’s likely he dusts himself off and comes back, hopefully wiser and stronger for the experience.

If he runs in 2028 following a Trump presidency, it may be the dumbest decision he's ever made

I don't like the way he looks or talks
Oh yeah he does have great policies I'll give him that!

quote:I guess it depends on how much he learned. Running against Trump was rough, but that was not RDD's main problem. He was surprisingly ineffective on the campaign trail. If he runs again in 2028, perhaps the experience will have helped him though.
Did Ron running help or hurt him?
Posted on 3/5/24 at 9:36 am to momentoftruth87
It hurt him for 2028 especially if a none rhino runs . He will crush Haley , Pence and Christie. There was no reason to run 2024 . Everyone knew that Trump could not be beat in the primary .His supporters blame the MAGA crown for his poor performance in 2024 . If that’s true they then the MAGA crowd is the super majority of Republicans. He needs to pick a side before 2028 . Is he MAGA and for the voters or a Rhino And for the wealthy donors . This election he tried to be both . That’s not going to work unless there is no MAGA types in the field. Vivek will destroy him in 2028 if he runs the same campaign.

If things keep going the way they look like they are going, Desantis is on the outside looking in.
I don’t want to call it a mistake. I think he knew what he was doing. He rejected MAGA and didn’t want to align with it. I think his supporters here are a pretty good analog for Desantis himself.
But, in the end, that decision will likely cost him his political future.

No because as soon as Trump tells you to pull the lever for RDS you will do it clapping like a seal.
