In January, the Denver City Council approved a ban on the possession of bump stocks and police have told people they need to turn them in. More than two months later, police have not received a single one.

Denverite reports police told gun owners that if they "are in possession of a bump stock, and would like to turn-in their bump stock to the Denver Police Department, they can do so at any Denver Police Station.”

If caught with a bump stock, the offender could face a $1,000 fine and up to 180 days in jail, according to Fox 31.

That's working about as well for them as legalizing weed.

Once they banned them they became very valuable; they probably traded them for a pound of pot.

now if you have one, it will be found in a search for some other reason, and you'll face more penalties...

All bumpstocks there were wrecked in tragic snowmobile accidents, sadly.

I lost all my bump stocks in a boating accident on Lake Dillon.

So they just assume that everyone has a bump stock?
I've been around a lot of AR owners and don't know anyone that has a bump stock

What is the fair market compensation that Denver is paying for a bump stock?

Like your right to own a gun.

Bump-fire stocks are a novelty and meant for some fun at the range. Guns utilizing this mechanic are more difficult to control and thus wind up wasting ammo fast.

Bump stocks are overrated and over feared!
They make a gun even more inaccurate than the full automatic that the U.S. military rejected years ago.
If your target is a whole block of crammed people like the Vegas shooting, they are ok.
But if they had been banned, that moron would have illegally modified his rifles to automatic and killed more.
I considered buying one, they look fun on videos, but they are truly a waste of money and ammo. I rather buy more range time, ammunition, clips, and real guns.

where is that knucklehead bamaatl? i asked this question in the mega thread and he swore that this wouldn't happen. i'm thinking about bumping this forever until there is a response. here are the points i'm raising on the issue
1. prove that banning an ar-15 will stop mass killings with that weapon, keeping in mind the vegas shooter most certainly used an illegal fully auto weapon. bamaatl assures us that it will work
2. prove that banning a gun/guns will not cause killers to turn to other ways (BUMP STOCKS, pressure cookers, fertilizer bombs, drone attacks, chemical attacks). iow, promise me that taking guns out the hands of law abiding citizens will make things "better." bamaatl assures us that knife attacks are not currently on the rise, which of course is stupid because the ar-15 hasn't been banned. also, bamaatl cited a study that showed stricter gun laws led to a reduction in gun crime. of course this was in other countries not analogous to the us and fails the maxim "correlation does not equal causation."
3. prove that banning a gun/guns won't turn into a slippery slope; i.e. the loss of other freedoms. no answer on this one.
4. prove that banning a gun/guns will not impinge upon citizens' ability to defend themselves, even from the govt or hostile invaders. hello revolutionary war/2nd amendment. "oh, it's so rare that a gun owner has stopped a crime." oh yeah? prove that it won't be on a mass scale in the future. it only takes one time.
5. prove that banning a gun/guns, the effect, will stop the cause of the killings.

The city of Denver itself is actually not that big. The Denver metro area consists of a bunch of other cities that's are crammed together. There is only a small percentage of the population in that city.
