You'd have to completely ignore the history of midterm elections to pretend this wasn't a win for the Rs and, especially, Trump.

The old rules don’t apply to trump. The trump agenda lost “bigely” last night.

No, it didn’t

It was an average midterm

The only people calling it a “wave” are liberals on this board

How did Republicans increase Senate seats?
If you want to take credit for gains in one house, you need to take your loss in the other

I'm far more alarmed by Gillum and especially Abrams coming so close to winning

I'm hoping it was just a perfect storm of Trump hate + Dems loving to vote for a cool black man + pure ignorance to what Gillum is.

The supermajority tax amendment pass something like 66% to 33%, so that was promising considering Gillum would 100% be raising taxes.

My lady friend is a rabid Trump hater and idiot. I asked her how she voted on this amendment and she said, "of course I voted yes. I don't want some douche raising taxes on me."

Some of these Trump haters are shockingly ignorant.

If "they're racist" was eliminated from their reasoning, a substantial portion of voters wouldn't have the slightest idea of why they support Dems over Repubs.

Because TONS of them are like your example. Flagrantly conservative in their thinking........but "ohmigod they're so racist!!!!"

Nobody in their right mind expected the democrats to pick up any seats in the senate. They had too many seats to defend compared to republican senate seats that were up for re-election. The house was a whole different scenario. A republican celebrating last night’s returns is about as stupid as an LSU fan celebrating their “victory” over Alabama last Saturday night.

Long term, the best thing for Republicans in 2020 is two years of Pelosi being in charge.

Abrams more than than the Florida guy. They really dug their heels in Atlanta and got the vote out - keeping polls open very late and driving people in mass quantities to the polling places, etc.- GA people (outside of the ATL and in the burbs) have got to organize people to vote like the Dems did.

This should be a massive warning to a state that should never be this close.
