Do you want some art criticism from me? As in why I like the piece or do you want something on what makes the piece good?

I don't know if it is 'good' or not in terms of the skill of the sculptor, but Noguchi has some pieces in Seattle that I absolutely love. He did the 'Black Sun' piece in Volunteer Park which supposedly was the inspiration for the Black Hole Sun song, or at least that was the rumor when I lived in Seattle.

In terms of the sculpture, I find the oddness of it very striking, but I've never seen this sculpture in person, so I can't tell you whether I would have the same reaction in person. The sculpture seems pristine which adds to the weirdness, and I think that juxtaposition between the material of the sculpture and the content of the sculpture creates tension in the piece. Overall, I'd like to see it in person as well as Noguchi's other work in New Orleans.

if that's still standing after a week it's proof positive that there's not a real man living within a 2hr radius

There used to be a beautiful library there, but then they tore it down and K&B built that Soviet bloc style office building. I never could decide which was uglier, the building or its sculptures. On St. Charles from Lee Circle all the way to Canal, there were all sorts of great buildings torn down for "modern" ones in the 50s, 60s and 70s. Even so, the historic preservation people were largely able to save Nola from being totally Atlanta-fied during this period. I'm pouring a little bit of by bourbon out for the great buildings we weren't able to save.

Most folks do not give a rat's arse about your 'reaction' - seeing a pic is enough to tell the story.

It is cool as frick. It is a little bit goofy, a little bit demonic, a little bit strange. It is just a small slice of the human experience.

I hope one of you guys pulls that crap down and toss it in the Miss. River.

What in the crap is going on in our country and state? Kinda glad I'm overseas.

The building was built for the John Hancock Company; K&B occupied it later after donating the old K&B headquarters to the CAC. The building is actually on the national register of historic places, but YMMV.

The sculpture has been there for years. It is not new; it just sits on the back of the property (private) almost under the expressway, completely out of view.

I don't think that it is a Noguchi. The concrete water feature in the front is a Noguchi.

Besthoff was an odd guy who probably found it funny and a bit subversive.

I guess he was just waiting for the TD Poli Board to get worked up over it.

Remember the 2007 LSU 800 pound gorilla with a chainsaw penis? This is him at 40 going to Costco for diapers and wiper fluid.

NOLA 2018: These statues are so offensive that they can't be viewed by the public out of fear that they'll cause irreparable harm

NOLA 2023: This demon statue with his cock and balls hanging out really brings life to the city.

Why don’t you leave this board you evil twisted prick?

You explain everything you represent and stand for by defending this statue.

I can’t argue with you because I don’t argue with evil idiots. But I will say AggieHank is likely a Pedo Groomer in Real Life.

I won’t respond to your reply, but screw off you weirdo

NOBODY IN THEIR RIGHT MIND CAN DEFENS THIS STATUE. As a kid, I grew up around the K&B building, and the fact they are shaming that spot with this twisted BS, shows how fricked we are as a Society

K&B is an old legacy Jewish Family

Sculpture art is art, BUT EVIL IS EVIL.

This sculpture reps Evil & the fact a child that KMOWS NO BETTER, can SEE THIS EVIL, is a problem of itself.

Anyone that can’t see this, you need to check your morality code

And I won’t be responding to any of the village idiots whine want to argue because I don’t waist my time arguing with clowns
