He did you post this today? Did you not hear that we ran out of oil 30 years ago and have no electricity anymore.

Here are some Global Historical Tropical Cyclone Statistics since 1980.

There is no discernable trend in the data to indicate storms are getting more frequent, longer in duration, or more intense. There is a stretch in the 1990s that was worse than current variations.

It was the most irritating question of the night for me

Hurricanes for the past 20 years have seen some increase in intensity. I won’t argue that.

Why it’s happening is arguable.

Part of it is normal cyclical climate fluctuation and part could be due to some sort of climate change. Let’s assume the later part to be true. The cause of that climate change is questionable and to assume it to be MAN made is specious.

No scientist can put an actual figure or measurement on how much of the climates change is due to humans.

Additionally, the US is the most climate friendly country on earth. Vance was smart to point that out. WE are not the problem and shame on the arm chair climatologists for trying to pin blame on us…
And for a journalist hosting a debate to try to insert the commentary like she did last night is irresponsible.
She was being argumentative

Debates are meant to be held between 2 candidates, not the moderators and the candidates!

Human-caused climate change is warming our ocean globally and in the Atlantic basin, and melting ice on land, leading to sea level rise, which increases the risk of storm surge.

What changed? Must be the climate?

If things are terrible it's because of climate change. If things are uncharacteristically calm, it's because of climate change. If things are average/normal, it's because of climate change. Didn't you get the note? If you disagree it's because of climate change affecting your thought processes.

It's one of their "go-to cards" along with "systemic racism" and "white privilege".

No. You didn't "fix it' actually.
Then again, I have the advantage of having read the NOAA prediction article. They noted El Nino/La Nina, along with ...
quote:

near-record warm ocean temperatures in the Atlantic Ocean
and
quote:

our increasingly challenging climate landscape
and
quote:

Human-caused climate change is warming our ocean globally and in the Atlantic basin, and melting ice on land, leading to sea level rise, which increases the risk of storm surge.
Those are quotes from the same NOAA paper

Yep.
Just like Farmer Walz told us last night -- "One year it's floods. The next year it's drought." Climate Change!!!!

Walz said Helene was stronger than ever. I could have swore we’ve had a few dozen stronger than 140 mph.

Had 145 MPH winds at my house during Michael, and we were 40 miles from the center of the eye.

Camille had 220 MPH winds 50+ years ago. He's just a pathetic liar-

OK, you only got me on a technicality.

I wasn't disputing you in relation to what reasoning NOAA used - but instead the reasoning itself. And you acknowledged they were wrong too, so I think we are in agreement.

Should have typed FIFT (Fixed It For Them).

Wasn't meant as a "gotcha," although I thought I might be responding to one. The point is, if they were pressed, the antiscientific NOAA stooges would concoct a "Climate Change" based explanation for the contributory El Niño/La Niña effect as well.

It's what they do.

They are funding whores. If their johns want "Climate Change," and their johns lay money on the dresser, NOAA ""scientists"" climb on the bed and put-out "Climate Change" just as transacted.

I guess global warming explains the Labor Day 1935 Hurricane, the most powerful to ever hit the US.

Or Hurricane Camille

Or the Dust Bowl in the 1930's

Or the Mezozoic Era.

Carbon Dioxide levels increase with higher temperatures not cause them

CO2 lags temperature

No. No. No. ... Climate CHANGE.

The Climate Changed!! Climate Change caused the catastrophic Dust Bowl drought AND the Labor Day Storm simultaneously. Scientists back then were too stupid to recognize the obvious. Don't you understand????

Impossible.

For that to be true, >85-90% of Earth's CO2 would have to be contained in the oceans, then transferred to the atmosphere with oceanic evaporation as the sun warmed those oceans, returning to the oceans when they cooled.

Oh ..... Wait ..... 93% of Earth's CO2 is contained in our oceans. Geaux Figure!

fluky weather is what caused the streams and vallys to exist. they have been washed out for millions of years to get to there current condition. Even the Grand Canyon started off as a plain.

When folks want to build out their precious home over a steam in the holler they should feel okey with a flood

Think of this, In 2005, Rita hit Cameron around the same time frame as Helene this year. Late September, in 2005 you had an R hurricane and Helene this year is an H. How is it getting worse

Yes, but the climate change yo-yos would have you believe the 25” of rain was caused by climate change.

Shout out to the Ozone Layer fear porn of the 70's and 80's. Funny how that imminent climate change disaster just went away.
